Next June, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee, Georgia will launch a two-year’s physician assistant master’s program. The first class will have 20 students.

• In Georgia, the number of PAs has increased 67% in the last ten years to more than 3,000.
• There are 102,000 PAs in the nation.
• 75% of PAs who have graduated recently have received multiple job offers.
• Physician assistants practice medicine with supervision by licensed physicians, delivering a range of medical services in a variety of settings.
• The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is located in Johns Creek, a suburb of Atlanta.
• According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the PA profession is expected to grow 30% by 2020.
• There are four other PA programs in Georgia – at South University in Savannah, Georgia Regents University in Augusta, and at Emory and Mercer, both in Atlanta.
