New premed pubs as a medical student

Hey Everyone,
I am a M1 interested in ortho. Ever since I started medical school by PI from undergrad has published 2 papers and presented a poster in a neuroscience related topic and has included my name. I am just a contributing author. I was wondering if residencies care about these pubs especially if I’m not a first author and did not present the poster? And does it matter they are in neuroscience if I’m interested in ortho? Thank you in advance.

Everything matters. It’s a line on your CV. However, clearly this doesn’t change anything you do to match Ortho. You’ll strive to get as high of grades as possible and be as productive with research as possible.
