Hey everyone, I need some feedback about my horrible first year in college. I started school as an engineering major and got a C+ in chem and physics. I also dropped calc3, retook it over summer and got an A. I didn't decide to do premed until that summer, and changed majors to microbiology. I should be getting a pretty good grades this semester, which will help out with my GPA. Currently I have a 3.63 cum, and science gpa is sub par. I'm confident that I'll get good grades from now on, but the problem is those C+s and drop. It just stays in the back of my mind everytime I think about grades or something premed related. I wanted to get your honest opinions about whether or not I should even try for the MD. Right now it feels like no matter how well I do, or how much I do, I have a slim chance of getting accepted into any schools. Help!?!?!

I want you to breath and repeat after me:

A bad freshman year will not destroy my chances

A 3.6 gpa is competitive

A few C's are ok

listen to Cerebrus. A few C's won't kill you app. If you only get C's your freshman year and do well for the next two years (since you're here, you'll be sure to realize how much of a help it can be to get your application in during the summer before your senior year, so you'll have your soph and jr grades to show), your application will look just fine.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it! I'll make sure to stick around and help each other get into med school!!
