Hey all now that I've gotten my dreadful MCAT scores back I just wanted your updates on my chances. It seems M.D. school is a (very) long shot, but what about D.O. school? Also is it too late to apply to D.O. school for the 2010 fall start? It was my understanding it wasn't as they let you apply into January/February for most school.

-3.65 GPA (3.7 Science)
-23S MCAT (6 Physical science, 8 Bio, 9 VR)
-four years (over 600 hours shadowing experience)
-some community theater
-about ten hours hospital shadowing.
-Am an Eagle Scout
-NH resident
-Member of two honor societies

Thank you for your input.

I'd agree you should pull your plans for allo applications, but it isn't too late to apply to some less-selective DO schools considering your good GPA. Unless you have a DO letter of recommendation in sight, don't apply to those schools that require one. Many want a letter from any physician, and some don't need one at all.

Thank you. These links are a huge help! I could get a DO letter pretty quickly as I know one, but time is of the essense. I will apply to a few and see what happens.

Try to get the letter. It will take at least a month to get your AACOMAS application verified, and you will surely have the letter by then and can add the schools that require it.
