NHCS--anyone do this?

I am premed currently in the app process for Fall 2002. I would like to know if any med school students and residents out there participated in the National Health Corp Services scholarship or SEARCH programs, and if so, what was that experince like? Where did you go to serve? Is there much flexibility?

I am a NHSC scholar still in the schooling part. Having attended a recent conference I do know that as a NHSC scholar you can designate your own site, meaning if the poulation is medically underserved NHSC will let you do your payback at this site. Also keep in mind effective this year your entire scholarship is NOT taxable (so it will save you $6000 in taxes, having now to pay taxes only on the stipend part about $13K.
