NHSC for married dental student

My wife and I will both be attending stony brook dental school (NY state school). Would it be helpful to us if one of us accepted the NHSC scholarship or would it be a poor financial move? Do the underserved areas pay a smaller salary then recent graduates can receive doing an associateship elsewhere??
