A little birdie told me recently that Bethesda was planning on setting up an EM residency to start in the 2013 time frame. Apparently a partnership with GWU will be a prominent part of the program. Anyone have any comment or additional scuttlebutt?

NNMC always had a reputation for being low acuity. Has that changed??

George Washington is level I though. (but yes, NNMC ED still has the rep for being pretty dead...might have more cases by 2013 with the BRAC though)

the ED there is an absolute ghost town (makes for great customer service, if you're going in for something quick . . .was in/out in 30 minutes).

the ED at Balboa seems to be a lot busier, in terms of volume. cant speak of acuity. How high can the acuity be at any non-Level 1 ED? (I'm so ignorant, I still don't understand why EM is a specialty :))
