Ok, I've heard that Davis interviews late in the season. But realistically, are any of the other UCs still sending invites at this point?

I ask because I'm on hold for an interview at Irvine and UCSD - which I'm pretty sure is a rejection at this point. No word from UCSF or Davis.

Any thoughts on the UC interview process?

The UCs are jerks! I applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UC Davis and UCSF and am a so-cal resident that even WENT to UCLA for a year before I transferred. I was rejected pre-secondary from UCSF and UCSD, haven't heard from LA and Irvine, and am interviewing at Davis next Thursday. I got my invite for Davis this week so there is still hope but as far as their process goes....they are soooo mean and slow in all things possible.

The UC interview process sucks! Mmm, yeah, that's my only thought on the matter.

Hey,
Don't give up. I just finished secondaries at all of the UCs in Late November (I RE-applied at the very last second...). Think about how *I* feel.
The UCs all screen, closely- I spoke to the dean at UCI and she was adamant about screening everyone, so it might be that they're taking time to scrutinize their applications.
UCSF is definitely still interviewing, and will be until March.

As to the "on hold" status.... Send in as much updated info as you can around early March, *OR* call the dean and ask what you can do to change your position. If you have begun a new job, send in another recommendation (I did this last year, even though it didn't do much for me, obviously...).

And, if you look at the postings, a lot of people are still waiting or are still being invited for interviews. Take a deep breath. See what happens...
Of all things, DONT PANIC. No matter what happens, you'll be fine- and I'm sure you'll enjoy wherever you end up attending. Even if you have to re-apply, you get a chance to learn something new while strenghtening your application- for me it was to come down out of the wilderness and actually work in an inner-city clinic - which I absolutely love (and now I know how to draw blood and give injections and know more about medi-Cal/insurance/etc).
My point is, regardless, *DONT* give up, and relax... it's a big thing, I know, but send letters of intent in March and keep your fingers crossed. Don't be afraid to ask admissions office staff as to what you should do (they are often very helpful when you are polite on the phone). One of the UCDavis folk was awesome and very supportive last year-
so in any case,
Good luck and stay positive. :luck:

hopefully ucla and ucsd will start rejecting post-sec soon. i am tired of wondering what they're doing with my app.

gossmer, i'm no expert, but i don't think it's time for you to panic. davis interviews through march or so...my app there was complete for two months before they invited me for an interview...i think with ucd and ucsf, no news is good news. good luck.

edit: i just realized you were asking about uc's besides davis. oops. i don't know.

.ahh, davis. if only i could go there for med school..too bad i dont have a shot in hell..u see, theres this really good french cafe run my asians across the stret from the main hospital on stockton blvd.i dont know what id do without it.

UC schools are notoriously slow...I've heard that UCLA interviews into May! I am waiting around to hear fom UCLA (post-secondary silence), and UC Irvine (pre-int. hold, which probably = rejection). I've been rejected from UCSF and UC Davis already, and UCSD is a pre-secondary hold (definitely a rejection I think...)

Man, no love for the CA residents! And i am a UCLA alumni too---oh well..........like they say it's not over until it's over 😉

Good grief, I'll lose my mind by May! I hope UCLA sends me some news before then. And UCSF keeps teasing me with their post-secondary silence...so cruel.

Didn't someone else on SDN say that UCSD has stopped offering interview invites as of the end of December?

Well I don't know if they did it officially but I got put on pre-interview hold there on 1/4 so that timeline sounds about right.

That cannot be right...I just received a secondary! (within the week)

Ok, I take it back! Or course that means that UCSD is interviewing, they just aren't interviewing me... 🙁

Don't know if it helps, I am from New York, applied to UCLA, have been waiting for a secondary since the end of August; no secondary - just got rejection on January 9. dinguses

OK, I called Davis and UCLA today. My app hasn't even been reviewed. I was complete in late Oct (august MCAT) to give you a timeline. I also went over to UCSF - same scenario. So maybe all hope is not lost for those of us waiting for interviews.

I just got secondaries for the UC's in november and late december.

hey everyone
don't panic! i was on hold at UCI for a month and i received an invite for an interview for february last friday. i heard from UCLA and got a secondary but so far, nothing regarding interviews. I got rejected from UCSF post secondary and I got a secondary invite from UCD in december. I haven't heard anything from UCSD. UC's are just slow. period.

They really are slow. keep pestering, and don't give up.

Remember they have about 3000 people's apps and only 500 slots or so (that's UCI- UCSF is about 1100 people's secondaries and 400 slots for interviews). Who knows the inner workings of the UC Adcom's minds....

PS DavisDude- Do you work off of Stockton at the Med Ctr? I live near McKinley Park. Do you go to Ironworks? PM me if you're nearby - it'd be cool to chat with someone in the zone.

UCLA and UCSD got my AMCAS in August and I haven't even recieved a secondary from them. I am on hold at UCI, and still waiting post-secondary for UC Davis and UCSF (barely complete last month).

Oh well... Loma Linda interview is Jan 25th

that's my one chance to stay in CA

I spoke to the UCLA office yesterday curious about when i would find out my post-secondary decision (I was complete mid-Sept) and the office told me I should hear an interview/rejection decision at the end of January.....

Of course, when i called a month ago they told me mid-January, so it appears that they are pushing that date out a bit....
