Hey People,
I havent gotten any interviews yet and I was complete in the second week of November at most places.
Any tips or suggestions....on how i can avoid checking my email and mailbox every few minutes....
Do you know what the average reponse time is for schools like Pritzker, Northwestern, HMS, Yale, Baylor, Keck, Stanford etc are?

I feel like a huge loser cos i applied to all these schools and I now realize how out of my league they are, thanks to SDN...

So yea, this is yet another thread allowing us non-interviewees to wallow in misery... any of you that can offer hope to us are most welcome....

Lastly, Happy Holidays Ppl. Best wishes.
God Bless you all.

-If you were complete to most of your schools in mid-november, you should not expect many, if any, responses before the new-year.

General turnaround time at most schools is 4-6 weeks. Note that "general" is a very, very, very broad term. (I would also, just based on common sense, expect 4-6 to stretch to 8-10 right now as a function of the holidays and b/c of the rush of applicants right before the due dates). Also note that at a number of schools, if you are not favorably reviewed and/or not invited for an interview, you will not be notified at all until the end of the application season.

Hey, Indude, I'm in the same position you are, complete at about the same time and everything.
We aren't going to hear anything this year, so I plan to wait until the new year and send letters of intent to schools. If I don't hear anything by mid January to February I'm calling this admissions cycle a wash, will address the deficiencies in my app (get more clinical ECs and an new LOR from them) and apply as early as possible in June. Maybe I'll look into a post-bac or a master's program...
This isn't the most encouraging outlook but sometimes you've got to be realistic.

also, i think everything has been much slower post-oct. 15, since schools are not only reviewing applicants for potential interviews, but also reviewing interviewed applicants for admissions. and with the holidays now, i definitely wouldn't expect anything until the new year...don't give up hope yet!!

and please have a happy holiday, despite your somewhat discouraging, yet certainly not hopeless, situation! good news is on its way 🙂

I was complete around the end of October and have only gotten one interview thus far. There is no need to worry about not getting interviews at this point in the process because a lot of schools are behind- Keck has extended their 2ndary date to Jan 15th. I called a couple of the schools I applied to earlier this week and most haven't even gotten to my file yet. I understand how you are feeling, but don't give up just yet. To get into medical school all you need is one interview and one acceptance. :luck:

fyi... There is a rumor circulating around the forums that Northwestern is going to stop interviewing by the end of Jan, sadly I think this might be true.

Thanks for the replies...
Theres not much one can do other than wait....
serves me right for applying late...
hope by the end of the game...
i am not in shame....

aight... i think i am becoming lamer by the minute....
peace to you all.

1.) You are not a loser. Don't say such a stuipid thing.

2.) This is medical school applications, not an account at Blockbuster. Give these schools time. It seems like they don't really sober up and start looking through things until December, so go ski and chill out.

3.) Be patient and persistent. After reapplying I got into some schools and have no idea why I got their attention the 2nd time around. Stay strong.

rock out,
Lance

Indude, I completed everything around Nov 15th or so like you. My secondaries were all sent before that but LORs weren't sent out until around that time. I called WF after reading a thread in here and managed to get myself an interview but I haven't heard back from other schools yet. But you should start calling them just to check if your application is complete because it's been about a month now. Don't call Stanford though - vast majority haven't heard back and they want you to be patient! Someone said if you haven't been rejected by Stanford yet it's a good sign. Stay put! Remember most interviews are conducted next year until March.
