I'm signed up for the MCAT coming up real soon...If I were to take it but not have it scored, would that be the same as not taking it at all? Would I have to report on my apps that I took it but didn't get it scored?
Thanks ya'll!

If you are already thinking about voiding the test perhaps you should look into delaying. I'm pretty sure you can do that but I don't know how early before the test you have to tell them.

If you void the test after completing the MCAT (before leaving the room), it will never show up on your records that you took the test.

If it's still possible for you to do, I would second this.

To put yourself through all the stress of taking the MCAT just to void your score isn't worth it. In my experience as well, it is exceedingly difficult to gauge how you did on the exam just on how you feel after the test. I felt like **** immediately after my MCAT (thought I was unsure on and had marked too many questions)...even considered voiding it myself...but had it scored and rocked it. If you feel as though you will do poorly on the test before even stepping into the exam room, I'd imagine this will only intensify as you go through the test, thus, putting you in a bad position to estimate how well you performed.

Your question has already been answered, but why not just take the test? I don't know what kind of person you are but I don't think anyone will tell you "I'm ready for the MCAT." Perhaps a firm deadline will allow you to step up studying and do better than you think. The test may play to your fortes.

My 2 cents: just take the thing. Worst case you do bad and have to take it again. Taking the MCAT twice is fine just nail it on the second time.

You won't have to report it, but if you're like some people who go ahead and complete/submit the AMCAS with the expected MCAT date, you'll have to explain why there isn't actually a score from that date.

Like one poster above said, unless you get violently ill or something dire happens, it's unadvisable to void a score. People usually get that feeling of impending doom when it asks you in black and white if you'd like to void.

I think you should prepare as best you can and use practice tests to gauge how you're doing. If you're scoring where you'd like, you're ready.

Barring a huge catastrophe on test day (you become violently ill or your computer crashes), you should probably go ahead and have it scored. As some other posters said, I thought that I did horribly, but when I got back my score this was obviously not true.
