The university I attend recommends that I take Bio 1 and Chem 1 together, because I am pursuing a non-sciece degree I cannot fit Bio into my schedule because of overlapping classes.

I was just going to take 13 credits, but I am now debating adding non-calc Physics 1 to my schedule. This would put me at 17 credits

Is physics and Chem together too math heavy?

Thanks

If you're really awful at math, yes. If you're average to good at math, no. The necessary math is basic algebra and geometry, the quadratic equation, logarithms, sine, cosine and tangent, and other stuff that you probably took in high school and have forgotten since.
