I wanted to volunteer somewhere I was passionate about and not to simply check boxes. I started volunteering at this public health non profit which provides primary care and immunisation in under served communities in Asia and Africa. It’s a remote position. However, my role is mostly dealing with numbers and calculations, tracking metrics, tracking program performance against targets, and making mortality calculations to see what next steps should be and present. I really like doing the research and being a part of the cause, but am scared it’s deviating too much from the regular volunteer activities.

This is great but you prob should also do something hands on. Soup kitchen, habitat for humanity, and similar traditional volunteer work is the gold standard and if you let yourself be open to it, pretty fulfilling. Proud of the work I did in soup kitchens as a premed, I'd probably still do it if I had time.

I do some traditional hands on too, but I am not going to be able to have hundreds of hours in those. This fits my schedule best, and my hands on volunteer work is a little scattered. Will do my best to get it done though
