Are you non-science majors taking additional classes besides the requirements (i.e. Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, etc.) ???

Thanks!!
J

I'm taking p-chem, but nothing bio-oriented.

I took Anatomy and Physiology in undergrad (I'm a post-bac) cause I was interested in it. I took microbiology in post-bac and might take biochem in the spring if I can get into the class. It will probably be too late (hopefully 🙂 for it to help me in the admissions process, but I know it will be helpful once in I'm med school.

i would suggest taking biochem it will be helpful to have seen some of the stuff before they throw 17 lectures at you the first week.

there was a recent thread on this... do a search...

but for brevity's sake - i took systems phys, biochem, genetics, and a few others i can't remember right now....

Hi,

Actually, I've been debating this topic for quite sometime. I think in the end I'm going to take some extra biology courses in genetics, just because it interests me. My campus has an assortment of other science courses outside the reqs that look fairly interesting, so I thought I would give them a try. I also thought about doing biochemistry (not a requirement for all schools), but I heard it's pretty bad, so I dunno if I wanna do that. Does that help any?

I took anatomy and physiology with at a local school that had a nursing program - I highly recommend doing something like this. I feel really prepared for my anatomy class. It's a plus that I also got some cadaver disection experience in that class.

As far as biochem, I really don't think it's the hardest class by a long shot. I feel prepared for it with only my basic biology and organic chem experiences.

hi i graduated in june. i'm taking the year off to take some eaxtra bio/chem courses. right now i'm taking biochem 1 and immunology. next semester i'll probably take biochem 2 and neurobiology or developemental.

no, but did bio research, and am doing math research in biology.

anything might be useful to see prior to medical school, but in the big picture it makes little difference.

As far as making your application better, I have no idea.
