MCG only matriculated 7 OOS MD students.
With those two MCAT scores you have a fair to good chance at only 5 schools on your list.
You will need at least a dozen schools that might interview you for best MD chances.

I applied to MCG mostly because my main rec is from a Department chair there - I worked for him for over a year in clinical research. Does that matter?

It's possible.
You still need 7 more good choices, though.

I am not willing to live in the tundra again (grad school), so schools in the very far north are out for me.

Look at the MSAR for private schools with a median MCAT around 31-32 and large public schools that matriculate 20% OOS or so.
