Can you please comment on my chances and school list based on my app? I have a few months left before I apply and I would like to strengthen my app in whatever way I can.
A little about me- I'm an RN going back to med school. I actually started an NP program but was not satisfied with the depth and quality of the education there so decided to pursue medicine.
Education- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, GPA 3.7, sGPA 3.5.
- I have 3 Cs- in public speaking, general chemistry 2, and organic chemistry 1
- I have 3 Ws
- My degree is from a university, but my prereqs were done post- graduation at a community college
- Left NP program 2 semesters in to pursue pre- med, had 4.0 GPA
MCAT- Have not taken yet, anticipating ~510 based on practice exams
Clinical experience-
- 6 months as a patient care technician at a community hospital
- 2.5 years as an RN inpatient (med-surg and oncology)
- 1.5 years as a forensic nurse
- Nurse at a summer camp for children with rare genetic disorders x2 years
- Shadowed REI physicians x25 hours
Volunteer experience-
- On and off volunteering at an organization that supports cancer patients & their families x 5 years
- 3.5 years at an organization providing at- home medical services for community- blood draws, etc.
