Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if you guys could help put me in the right direction with creating a good school list for matriculation in 2016. I'm applying as a non-traditional student, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

B.S. 2012 Molecular Biology
UGPA: 3.88, S.GPA 3.83

MCAT (only one test) P:10/ V:10/ B: 12 (July 2014)

EC's: (currently weak but working to expand)
70 hours Emergency Department volunteer
30 hours shadowing Hem/Onc (continuing)
One semester TA for upper level bio class
Two years triathlon team in UG

Work History:
1.5 years in a gene regulation lab, ChIP sequencing etc, no pubs
1.5 years in a leukemia and hematopoiesis lab, studying childhood leukemias and bone marrow transplant technologies (continuing) upcoming pub and another in near future

I know that I need more clinical and non-clinical volunteering, and am working on finding a new opportunity.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! PA is state of residence.

Possible schools so far:
The philly three: Jefferson, Temple, Drexel
Penn State
Pittsburgh
Quinnipac
PCOM?
Rowan
Robert Wood
NY Schools?
New England?

Thanks!

Nice list. Delete NJ schools until we see if they accept anybody OOS this year.
How about TCMC! Consider NY Med, Albany. Some of the SUNY's accept quite a few OOS.
Have you bought the MSAR yet?

Thanks for the response!

And I did just purchase the MSAR. I will probably add more schools that have mcat median scores around my own. The MSAR median MCAR scores are a tad inflated due to multi-admittances correct? Would it be worth applying to schools where my MCAT is below the median of that school?

OOS public schools tend to want stats at or above their IS medians. Look at private schools at the median.

How about MSW, GWU, Rush, Loyola, Rosland Franklin,?

Thanks!

Also what school does the MSW acronym stand for?

Goro suggests:

Miami
St. Louis
Albany
Albert Einstein
Rochester
Rush
Rosy Franklin
BU
NYMC
VCU
Penn State
EVMS
Wake Forest
Jefferson
Temple
Drexel
Creighton
Emory
USC
Tulane
Dartmouth
Loyola
Creighton
Any new MD school, especially Hofstra
Any DO program.....starting with LECOM and PCOM

Emory and USC are decent reaches but with median matriculant MCAT scores of 35 they are really are just that.

A 3 point differential in MCAT scores is something I feel is in what I call "striking distance". So, with some really good ECs, they might be doable. But OP, proceed with caution. I do not refer to gyngyn as "sage" for no reason.
