trying to decide between Feinberg and MSSM - what would you choose and why?

ok...on a more serious note:

when i visited mt. sinai, i absolutely fell in love with it. i was extremely impressed by MSSM's wide range of clinical affiliations - i know most schools boast having a diverse patient population, but MSSM actually seemed to have that.

most importantly, however, all the students i met were so extremely happy (happier than those at any other school i'd visited) and i felt a really strong sense of comaraderie.

don't know much about northwestern so can't help you there....

good luck with your decision - maybe i'll see you next year! 😀

choose by location, including where you want to be after residency.

Good reps, sweet curriculums. And big cities with similar weather. Tough call. Maybe flip a coin?

Wow, this one's tough. Northwestern is ranked higher than MSSM (if that matters to you). Both are in wonderful locations (if you like big cities, which I'm assuming you do). For me I think it would come down to money and how well I fit in with the school.

I didn't even interview at feinberg, but I've spent a bunch of time in evanston and it's boring. Sinai seems like it has some of the most inspired students i've seen. it's right on the park, which is so much better than the lake. the facilities at sinai are gorgeous, by far the best, and most beautiful, in the city. Also the location is the best of the city schools. the subway is a short walk (not like stupid cornell) and you can get to the east village/lower east side easily off the 4/5/6. i would say that the only downside to sinai is the fact that they don't have a lot of money to give you. try to find out what the financial aid is going to be like at both schools. living in the city is expensive, in every way, which can be a drag. but if you don't drink too much or call your "man" too often, you'll be golden.

It would seem that Feinberg is a far better program than MSSM in an incrediblle area. The students love it there. I think it is the highest ranked medical school with the highest student satisfaction that I've seen. Only reason to accept MSSM over it is because you desire NYC.

Choose Northwestern!! It's an amazing hospital and you get the most hookups come Residency time. Oh and... I'm waitlisted at Sinai...so I'm a BIT biased. 😉

Are you going to incur the same costs at either institution?

When it's that tough a call to make, you GOTTA look at the money--both tuition and cost of living. NYC is pricier than Chicago...but the part of Chicago that NU is in is ridiculously expensive. So it may come down to tuition and financial packages.
