I thought it'd be good to start compiling a list of those of us who still have ZERO acceptance.

We can use the following format:

just wanted to tell everyone to keep thier chin up; last year at this time i was on 6 waitlists (Penn State, MCP-Hanhemann, NYMC, Tufts, Maryland, and SLU) but got into SLU and Tufts in mid-July. My stats were 3.62/29 from U of Maryland. I hope lilycat or one of the other moderators brings up the old waitlist thread again soon so you can see how many of us got pulled off waitlists (lilycat, myself, nmehta(a classmate of mine), guardian, Cobragirl, and many others) during the spring and summer. best of luck to you all..
 
Pelicanman, did you apply to many 2nd-tier schools? Your stats seem too good for you to not have any acceptance.

Your stats are too good for you to not get in.

I didn't apply to enough 2nd tier schools.

However I was counting on gettting an interview from UM but it didn't happen.

I hear from Wake Forest next week maybe I will finally get in somewhere.

LizardKing, you would be so money if you applied to some schools outside of the top 10-20. 3.97, 37! Geez!
 
Yea, I was quite foolish not to apply outside of those top schools. I have no idea what I was thinking...new applicants, don't make the same mistake! Waitlists are torture!

Geez, I cannot believe some of the stats here (spacecadet - 39 mcat!!!!!). Just to clarify, this list is meant for everyone who hasn't been accepted yet; not just for those with high stats who haven't been accepted. :wink: So please keep adding.

Hopefully, more and more of us here will be getting in with time. When you get in, be sure to come back and take your name off this list!

Ira, would you mind telling me when you interviewed at Tufts and when you heard back from them? How did your interview go?

I interviewed in mid-March and still haven't heard back. Looks like our stats are very similar. I thought I had a good first interview (with the 4th year student) but I don't think I did too well with the second one. One encouraging thing I recall hearing on the interview day was Mr. Slavin saying something to the extent that he thinks 4th-year students have the best eye for judging applicants.

Dear otter, I interviewed at tufts in Feb, and had pretty decent interviews, nothing profound, as the whole processs seemed rushed. I just found out I am not Waitlisted, I am on hold, and that I'll be hearing a definitive answer before May 15th -- soon.
The kick in the pants is that I am in Kenya now and only have Internet (slow) and no real mail, so I am lost in time lag situation with SDN as my source.
I think a real TUFTS thread should be started especially for the hold people, ask me anything if you need.....

I agree... a Tufts thread is necessary. But every time I start one, it just dies after a couple of posts.

dra foxy - i liked tulane too, but i just really fell in love with wake forest/winston salem/NC when i was there - the curriculum, diverse student body, great facilities, etc. i think it was actually my favorite school, but i liked them all and i would take iu or usf over it because of cost and proximity to boyfriend (IU) or family (USF). i thought wake might have a better rep with residency directors, too, since it's ranked and tulane's not, but i don't know... i'm starting to rethink it b/c of all the posts about tulane on the "happiest schools" thread. why do you ask? do you think tulane's a better / more enjoyable school for some reason? i'm thinking i might just leave my name on all the lists now, and take a second look at both if i end up with a choice between these two.

but no matter what, I'M GOING TO MED SCHOOL THIS FALL!!! i am so euphoric and i feel like it will last forever! i'm sure you will all get your acceptances soon too - stay positive! i wish there was some way we could all throw a huge party for the 2006 applicants on SDN - i'm SO glad i found this forum. good luck everyone!
 
i'm sorry if that post sounded a little over the top, i swear i'm sober (again), but i'm just so happy i feel like the sky will always be blue from now on and i love everyone, especially all of you on SDN! i really hope i get to know some of you next year, wherever i end up!

It's actually a pretty good school, and respected throughout the nation.
 
exactly, Tulane is a top notch school! They just don't give info to USNews, although they are ranked #16 on the Gourman report I believe.

I just think it would be silly to withdraw from Tulane b/c it has such a fantastic reputation...just leave your options open! :D

I don't have very good idea about rankings of medical schools. But I am very surprised that both WashU and UWash are ranked so low in this Gourman's ranking.

thanks for the input, everyone. i guess i'll just leave my name on the other lists and see what happens. i really loved wake forest, but then again i also decided to rent a car there so i could drive around and see winston-salem, whereas i didn't do that in new orleans... i was miserably hungover when i got there, so i just slept, went to my interview the next morning, and left immediately to catch my flight back. if i get in i'll definitely re-visit the school and city before i make a decision.

anyone else on this list ready to come off yet? may 15th is just a week away, and i'm really looking forward to hearing about waitlist movement for all of us! keep your fingers crossed!

I'm just feeling kind of thoughtful today so I'm posting even though I never usually do. I was just thinking that you all deserve to get into medical school. This is such a long and arduous process. Anyone willing to go through such torture for this career probably deserves to get in. :)
 
CTKN: who did you interviewed you at NYMC?
 
I was interviewed by the director of admissions. She was really nice, but for some reason, I was really, really nervous. I'm not sure the interview went so well. I was stammering almost the entire time! I guess I just needed to relax and be myself. For those of you who are waitlisted, how do you feel your interviews went?
