Not passing the PTCE the first time...

Hi all, I just recently took the PTCE and to be honest, i didn't do as well as i thought. Right after i immediately took the test, the results shows that i failed but didn't give me the score. I felt like crap after seeing that and i realized i should've studied a little more. I have had no experience nor any training so i just read one of the books and worked out some practice questions but i feel like it wasn't enough. Has anyone not done so well the first time but eventually passed the second or third time? I'm sorry if this topic has already been issued but i just don't want it to bother me and let it affect me in any kind of way. Also, are there any good books i can use to study again?
