Notification QUestion

So I applied to a summer research program, and my application said that it would notify us by March 10. However, I never got any notice. Anyways, then i sent the person in charge an email, asking about the status of my app...Here is the response I got:

We will not finalize our decisions by Friday, March 19, 2004 and we will then
notify everyone by Monday March 22, 2004.
Hope this will make your decision in the other program easier.


Firstly, the last sentence just throws me. I mean I applied to other programs, but how in the hell does she know that? The sentence is so syntactically screwed up I can't figure out what it means! Anyways, secondly, I haven't received a reply and its March 31..Should I email her again? I mean I am pretty sure I have been rejected, but I think that I at least deserve some sort of response...Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated

I agree, that doesn't make much sense. At this point I'd probably call to clarify, rather than send another email.

Yeah..I have called several times, but no one answers. I guess I will just have to try again and then if they don't respond, Email. Is this sort of thing common if you haven't been accepted? They just totally forget about you>

Are you sure this is a real school?

Weird that no one answers the phone. Seriously though, she probably inferred that you were checking your status because you were holding other acceptances. Sounds like a sarcastic BI%$H.

Update: I called the school today, and they said they will let everyone know tomorrow and told me that most people who rejected were rejected a few weeks ago, so it's a good sign. Anyways, she was such a nice lady (who said she had to go through the apps all by herself) that I felt bad for emailing, leaving a message, and then calling again! I always have guilt like this, maybe I'm just too nice or something!!
