Does anyone here know exactly what Nova's deposit process is? Have any of you had your deposits cashed by Nova yet? Wasn't the deposit due March 15? Mine still hasn't been cashed yet and I'm a bit confused. I called them and I didn't get a very clear answer. 😕

They haven't cashed mine either. I really don't know what their process is.

Where you suppose to send the deposit with the acceptance letter? On my last corespondence with the school, I had to fill a form stating my preference for which program I wanted to attend. Do they send you another letter stating how much deposit to pay? What is the procedure?

In my acceptance package there was a form to sign and send in with a $500 deposit. On the form you had to check which campus you wanted to attend.

Miss Sushi...

So far have you only sent them the $500 deposit? I'm just curious because I thought I read somewhere else that you need to have another $400 registration fee in 3 month before the beginning of classes. Any ideas?

I got my intial deposit ($500) cashed last week.
I sent my pre-registration fee (another $500) before the deadline (May 15), but it hasn't been cashed yet.

You guys can check if your checks have been received by the school by logging in WEBSTAR. Then go to registration section, and you will find balance.
Your balance should be -$500.00 if the school has already received your check (but doesn't mean they cashed your check!!).

Hope this will help you.

By the way, I got my IP banned, this is weird... 😕
Anyway, I just changed my router's IP, and everything seems ok now

I gave them my debit card's Visa # to charge the $1000 onto it. It's supposed to be 2 $500 payments- a $500 deposit, with a $400 registration fee and a $100 something else. My bank account has nothing withdrawn from it or held by Nova yet...

When did you send your initial deposit in? I logged into Webstar & my current balance is 0, according to the Account Summary section. But I don't even see anything titled "balance" under the Registration section. Approximately how soon after sending in your check did you first see your balance show up as -$500? Thanks to everyone for responding so far! 🙂

It took a month, but I had to email and call the admission a couple of times!

Were you accepted at Davie? The letter that informed that I can choose between Ponce and WPB did not say anything about deposit. So I am curious how you guys found out how much deposit was and where to send it?

That pre-registration fee is mentioned in yr acceptance letter..It mentioned almost at the end of acceptance letter..After they mentioned when you should send in yr $500 for keep yr spot, it went on mention what day you have to send in another $500 for pre-registration fee (that's what i see on my acceptance letter )...

I didn't even remember that pre-registration fee until this morning..gosh...I just sent my in my Express mail, so it will be there by tomorrow's afternoon..I hope they will be ok with it b/c I was supposed to send in last Monday....

myliham & meesathuy,
I believe the information about leaving a deposit was enclosed in your acceptance packet, in which you received your acceptance letter.

Here is some more information:
http://pharmacy.nova.edu/NewWebsite/Admissions/TuitionAndFees.html

oh my goodness, i feel like a big idiot now! i hope there are no late fees, and that i'm still in the class.

btw, when do we have to send in our transcripts? the letter says "within 90 days from the date of registration" so we can start sending it in now, right, just as long as we don't send them after registration?

Well, I sent in all my transcripts already, but they have to be in w/in 90 days of registration- registration begins approximately 6 weeks before classes start. So there's your timeline 😉

As for the deposit, I spoke to someone in the bursar's office, who spoke to somebody else, etc and I found out that my deposits will both be cashed next week. The office has just been swamped w. calls & inquiries about deposits, so they are taking a while.

Good luck, meesathuy. I'm sure you're fine.

Anybody know if Nova will consider waiving a pre-req (specifically, Macreconomics)? I doubt it, but I really don't want to spend the $375 to take it this summer.😡

Also, I heard that Nova's financial aid office is REALLY bad with sending students their award packages in a timely manner. My Dad told me that loan interest rates are going up after June 1st so I was hoping to get my package before then. Does anyone have any idea what the process is? I'm afraid that since I'm taking this one pre-req class over the summer that Nova is going to hold my financial aid package until the class is over, which will be the end of June. Hmmm... this is all so confusing!

can I ask where you got this infor???? It's almost impossible to contact Nova's office...they're busy!!!!! I think that the only time for us to register (for the first semester) will be during our Orientation, right??? i don't recall reading anywhere that mentioned when we can register though.. 😕

hey, calrx, I don't think Nova will waive anything pre-req..I had Macro but still need to take Mirco...

about financial aid package, i'll be surprised if any of us get anything in early June..I doubt it....Hopefully we'll get something soon...But maybe not until the mid, or end of June, I think...

Hi everyone,

Okay, I have corresponded with a few people in the financial aid office and in student affairs and here is the answer that I have gotten about financial aid, registration, etc:

Financial aid is disbursed once you are fully admitted into the degree program. This does not only mean that you have your acceptance letter, but that you have turned in all that paperwork they sent you, etc (I'm not sure exactly which paperwork, because so far I have filled out & sent every single thing they sent me).

In addition to all the paperwork, you must register for your classes to be fully admitted, and you must be fully admitted in order for your financial aid to be disbursed. Registration opens approximately 6 weeks before the classes start. You can register yourself on Webstar, by going under the Registration tab and registering yourself with the CRN numbers the student affairs office will be able to provide you upon request, 6 weeks before school starts.

You will not receive your financial aid disbursement until just before the beginning of your term, assuming that all paperwork and requirements have been submitted & met. You can call the director of student affairs to check on your admission status.

If you are not familiar with Webstar or registering yourself, you can probably call student affairs to help you or simply wait until Orientation, where I believe they register you.

I hope this made sense. 😳 and made everyone a little less 😕 than they were before reading this...

PS: We probably won't get our loan packages before June 1 because I think the earliest date to register for classes would be in the week of July 3rd or so... we will probably be hit with the loan rate increase 🙁 I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna be sooooo in the hole after I graduate!

All my deposits were cashed last Monday, and my financial aid application was processed and completed last week based on the Webstar.
I am also fully admitted based on Webstar.

I don't know what financial aid package you guys are talking about, can you give me more precision?

Where on Webstar did you see that your financial aid application was processed and completed? I turned in my financial aid paperwork in March and they told me the whole thing would not be processed until registration, as a package. How can you be fully admitted, based on Webstar (where did you see this)? I have had had 2 people (1 in student affairs, 1 in financial aid) so far tell me so far that you must be registered (& registration has not opened yet) for all your fall classes before being fully admitted. I could be wrong though. Please let me know where you saw that you were fully admitted.

The financial aid package we're talking about is the "Award Package", which can be found under Webstar--> Student Financial Services & Registration --> Award Package By Aid Year --> 2006-2007. So far, everyone I know has a "No award information is available for you at this time" message under "Award Package By Aid Year".

Me too.... ahhh, get going on that! I actually called the bursars office on monday and took care of it.

send those deposits in guys....At least Nova sent you guys a "warning" note...I was so scared that they will drop our names w/out any "warning" note..But now, things are fine.... 😉

Hey everyone,
My deposit was cashed today. Just thought I'd let all of you know! 😀

It should say -$500 under balance due when I check my Webstar account? Or should it say -$1000?

Also, it claims that I still have not been admitted into a program yet. Anybody else think it's taking forever for the admissions office to forward that information onto the financial aid office? Geesh...

it's good to know..they take a long time to do paperworks....Did you mean Nova cashed out yr $500 pre-registration fee, right?? I sent it in on May 20, and Nova hasn't cashed it yet....

lol no I mean the first $500 fee! I haven't seen the pre-registration fee post to my account yet 🙁

CalRx- what do you mean that "it claims I haven't been admitted into a program yet". Where do you see that? When I go to Webstar --> Student Financial Services & Registration --> Check Registration Status --> Fall 2006, it says that "Your Class for registration purposes is 1st yr Pharmacy". Is that where you see that you haven't been admitted into a program yet? 😕

Hey Im just curious if anyone who received the nova "High Hold" candidacy letter in the mail which tells you to pick Puerto Rico , Palm Beach or go on a waitlist for Davie, get a response from nova yet. I go on webstar everyday to check my status and it says admission in to degree program required. At first I thought I got in and thought that’s why they sent me that High Hold candidacy application .....but now Im not sure and Im getting really nervous.
Let me know if anyone else is in the same situation or has recieved this letter.

Thanks !!!

Hey,
I am actually in the same situation. I was worried and called the school. They told me official letters will be sent out. This was almost more than a week ago and I have not obtained my offical acceptance letter. I guess it won't hurt to call and inquire.

Eeek, yeah my account only says -$500. Maybe I should call them again tomorrow and verify. Arggg.

Fortce: So what page does it list your Status, Admit Term, Admit Type, Catalog Term, etc? I don't see that anywhere. I'm guessing that's what you are supposed to see when the admissions office tells the financial aid office that you are accepted?

Miss Sushi: No, it does say "your class for registration purposes is 1st year pharmacy." I'm referring to something else. Follow this and tell me what your file says: Financial Aid --> My Eligibility --> Student Requirements. It says that I still haven't been admitted into a program yet.

OR, Financial Aid --> My Overall Status of Fin. Aid --> Unsatisfied Student Requirements.

Nova already cashed out my first $500 back in April, but my account still show balance of $0.00 (shouldn't it say -$500) and my second $500 hasn't cashed yet........Anyone receive financial aide package or anything else from Nova lately???? Last thing i got from Nova was background check...

Calrx, I just checked the area you told me to go to and mine says the same thing as yours- I'm required to be admitted into a degree program. I just realized after looking at that, that right now it's not the admissions office that needs to forward stuff to financial aid, it's that we need to register for our classes in order to be fully admitted, and registration will open on July 12. So once that happens, we will have met the requirement to be admitted into a degree program and all the info will be forwarded to financial aid. It is awfully confusing but it's what financial aid told me a couple of weeks ago.

PS: Yes, it's supposed to say -$1,000 not -$500... I just called the bursar's office to help me take care of that too b/c I don't want to get a letter in the mail that I didn't pay my pre-reg fee! 🙁

it's really confusing, so thanks for the infor. Now I know that registration will open on July 12...thanks

Ahhh, thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to call the Bursars RIGHT NOW!🙂

The bursar's number is (954) 262-5200. Good luck! :luck: Glad we can all help each other clear the fog... 🙂

Calrx:-Today in the mail, the mail person left me a notice saying I have a package from NOVA. I am going to assume that the package contains the offical acceptance letter. You should check your mail anytime soon and I am sure there should be a package for you as well. Now let me go back and finish up my financial aid matters.

Hey congrats myliham !! Im pretty sure its ur acceptance package. Just out of curiosity when you go to your webstar account summary what does it say ?? Hopefully I will get mine this week. Last time you got your high hold letter before me too. Even though im in state. Well..I guess I'll just have to wait. congrats again !!

Hey about that not being completely admitted until you can register on July 15. Then you can apply for the financial aid? But after July 1 we cannot get fixed interest rate at 6.8%. Are we getting screwed because I've read other kids are getting their loans. I don't get anywhere when I call Nova... Can anyone fill me in? Also didn't they say we are considered undergrad, so we can only get undergrad loans? Thanks!

actually we are considered first year graduate students...so no pell grant etc..If you do the loan entrance thing online and complete the NSU authorization form you can find out what you have been awarded. If you call financial aid they are pretty helpful and accessible ..unlike admissions...but I guess that’s because they are overburdened ...who knows ???...but it can be frustrating at times..lol..

fsupharm: Yup, you're right about that! My parents were complaining about that as well. I really don't understand why Nova can't issue us our financial aid information before July... I mean geesh... they are so freakin' slow!

myliham: Aww, thanks but I've already been accepted to Nova! I'm happy that you finally got your letter. CONGRATS!😀

I spoke to someone from financial aid today and she told me that I can find out how much I am awarded after I complete the authorization form and the loan entrance interview...but I guess it may be different for our program...who knows right ???..lol ....because it still does not display my award information on webstar..Im going to call tomorrow and see what they have to say... well here is the loan entrance interview link http://www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid/interview.html....

P.S you have to take a 39 question quiz at the end of it...I’m not kidding...lol...but its easy...so don’t sweat it !!

OK I wrote an e-mail to the Student Financial Services Counselor and here is what she responded with:

"Once you are fully admitted and registered you will receive an Award Notice via your NSU email account. Your Award Notice will delineate how much money you have been awarded for the year. We award financial aid for the year (9 months for pharmacy students) and disburse the funds per term. Once before the fall term and once before the beginning if the winter term. After you receive your Award Notice you will need to go back online (you will receive a separate email) and choose a lender and sign a Master Promissory Note. You will need to choose your lender each year although if you stay with the same lender you not need to sign another Master Promissory Note for 10 years. If you are beginning with 90 credits or higher you will be beginning the program as a graduate student. You will be eligible for Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans. The maximum amount of Stafford Loans that you can receive as a pharmacy student for a 9 month period is $31,000. This breaks down to $8,500 in subsidized (which is a need-dependent loan) and $22,500 for unsubsidized. You will receive half of each of these amounts for fall and winter. Your funds will come into the university and post to your account. The university will take out all of your tuition and fees and refund the remaining back to you. The Bursar’s office will post your refund in 5 to 10 days of your funds arriving at the university. Your Direct Deposit takes two days to go to your bank from the date that your refund is posted.

Fall disbursements for 2006-2007 arrive in the university on August 7. So, if these dates remain the same (sometimes they change as it gets closer to the beginning of the term) your refund will be issued 5 to 10 days after August 7.

If you need funds that exceed your Stafford Loan amount then you will need to apply for a private/alternative loan. You can do this through our NSU financial aid website, www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid. If you are an in state graduate pharmacy student your budget is $38,930 for the fall and winter 2006-2007 academic year.

Please let me know how I can be of further assistance."

So I'm not sure how you can find out your award after completing the authorization form & loan entrance interview... I had those completed ages ago anyway and it didn't seem to make a difference. 😕

PS: The NSUCOP website has posted the classes we will be taking in the fall with their CRN numbers. Just a heads up.

Miss Sushi,

Hello, I go to Nova and will be a P3 this Fall. Anyway, you will be offered the entire 31,000.00 in loans. If I remember correctly the school did not change our status to fully admitted student until orientation week. Also after the first semester of school you usually get your money 1 week before classes start. I can not remember when I got my money the first semester , I will check webstar and let you know. If you have any questions feel free to ask. At first it seems to be a frustrating experience with Nova and Financial aid but I can promise you after the first semester everything gets better. lol Oh and do sign up for direct deposit it is soooo much easier. 😉
