After listening to the NPR piece, I am surprised that LSU and Tulane still have psychiatry residency programs.

LSU's residency program is just fine.
It's combined with Ochsner Foundation Clinic's program, so we have beds there (not technically in Orleans Parish).
We have 30 adult beds temporarily at New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, and will have 68 further beds opening shortly at Depaul Hospital in New Orleans.
They are awaiting hiring of sufficient Psych nurses, techs, etc.

LSU residents staff most of the ER's in the area, as well as all of the state ental health clinics.

Tulane, i agree, is in some definite trouble.
