I got a letter in the mail from National Society of Collegiate Scholars. They want to induct me into their organization. Has anyone heard of this? Is it something that will be worth doing to put on a med school application? (That is not my only motivation for joining, but there's a 60 dollar induction fee, so that's why I am asking.)

it's a waste of money. don't do it, it's a bullsh*t "honor" society. i was too embarrassed to put that on any resume let alone my med school app.

agreed.

it depends on the chapter if it's worthless...i founded a chapter at my university, and we made sure it involved volunteering with local elementary schools. i've heard of other chapters that are just an "honor" society for $60 and then it isn't worth it...but the plan was for it to be an honor society WITH volunteer work involved...and i'm pretty sure we didn't charge $60 to get in either...sounds a little shady to me.

Alright... sounds like I'm going to pass on this one, then. Thanks for the info.
