Just talked to AADSAS people, so far this year there are approximately 6600 - 6800 applicants at this time. Keep in mind that 95% of the dental schools close their acceptance for applications by mid-March and there's around 4300 seats to be filled!

Hey Yah-zzz...do you know if the trend for dental applicants seems to be increasing or decreasing?

Sonigee,

I'm not sure if it's going up or down, but this graph should give you an idea:

If I had to guess, I want to say it's still going down (don't quote me on this)?

Yah-ZZZ,
Do you think the people at AADSAS would give specifics from a particular school as to how many seats are still open? When I ask the school directly they give evasive answers like "Don't worry, we're not full yet." I've heard rumors that where I am currenly on hold there are only seven seats left and I would really like to verify this info with someone. Thanks for keeping us updated on stuff.

Kentucky,

AADSAS people would have no idea how many seats are left or open at a particular school. AADSAS are strictly application processing people, they know nothing about who's accepted or who's not.

The best bet, again, contact your school of concern, if they don't tell you specifically or directly, then I'm afraid that you are out of luck. This is what I would do, I would try email different people at that particular school, the Dean, the admissions director/coordinator, or the assistant admissions director/coordinator, or even the assistant dean of admissions to get your name out. The bottom line is to try to get a hold of as many people at that school as you can to get info.

For me, the schools that concerns me, they're usually pretty good with me about telling me what I'm trying to find out. Just like everyone else, I get general responses all the time. Be persistant, but not annoying. If your status is the "waiting list/on hold", I would just wait and wait, and wait! To be honest, once you're on the waiting list, schools won't care about you until they have interviewed everyone that they want to interview to the end of the application cycle. That usually defines that you will not hear from that particular school until LATE!!
