I was just wondering if people will be interviewing at NY schools sometime in the near future and if they are planning alternate methods for getting to interviews just in case NY transit does go on strike.

I am in Philly right now and I was here while SEPTA (South Eastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) was on strike. I did not have to go anywhere but I felt bad for the people who lived far from their job and had to walk.

Just wondering.

Best wishes,

John 😀 😀

The general feeling here in New York is that they probably won't strike. The union would probably compromise greatly and settle for something small. They threatened a strike a few years ago, and didn't.

I figured I would have to bite the bullet and pay for a cab from Manhattan to Valhalla. Please don't strike...Please don't strike...

Metro North is still running, so getting to NYMC from Manhattan should be ok...though I believe MN will be operating on a limited schedule.

Thanks. Would all of this info be on their website or do I have to wait and see if they actually strike?

Here's the website with Metro North info: http://www.mta.info/strike/mnr.htm

Are you interviewing tomorrow? B/c then I'd recommend you stay with a host tonight and not have to deal with all this tomorrow...I'm sure the school's Ad Office would be more than willing to help you out.

Let's hope there's no strike!

for those of you living in newyork, how cani get from the JFK to Albert eintein college of medicine. I guess i could take a cab but was wondering if the bus wil be cheaper and i will go about doing that

I am interviewing next Tuesday so hopefully it will all be settled by then. I am interviewing at NYU on Monday and I am going with my fiance and her family so staying with a host is out unfortunately, but I'll check out the MN website, thanks for your input.

I have to drive from Jersey to Brooklyn on Monday so I'm hoping things dont get too bad by then.

Downstate did send me an email saying that my interviewer was going to show up and that I'd better leave some extra time.

No strike yet, although I did hear some talk of the strike starting with the private bus lines, Command bus etc.
