Okay I think this question has been posed a few times so I thought I'd start a thread. What happens with NYCOM? I read that they do not send a secondary app but instead invite for interviews and during that time, you fill out extra information.

In other words, my question (along with a few other people probably), is:

Does NYCOM select people to interview based solely on the primary AACOMAS app?

Thanks =)

Yes they do.

You can send your LOR's right away if you wish, that way when you are invited for an interview, they will already be there.

irish 79,

how many letters do they request and what type (D.O. /science teachers/non-science rec's)???? thanks

NDESTRUKT - Yes, NYCOM sends out invitations for interviews based on your AACOMAS application. If you are granted an interview you will receive a postcard in the mail. You then have to call up the school to schedule an appointment on one of the days they're holding interviews. On the day of your interview, a secondary application is filled out and a check is submitted (All the other schools I know of do this prior to your interview day).

MEDicated - When I applied, I had three letters of recommendation (2 science and 1 non-science) along with a letter from my pre-med committee. A letter from a DO is highly recommended as well.

Hope this helps!

I sent two science and one non-science as well as a letter from a DO that attended NYCOM. I sent them in as soon as I received my postcard saying my application was complete and being reviewed.
