NYCOM has about 240-250 standard students in the 4 year curriculum. They also have 40 students in the APEP (for docs who got their MDs overseas but can get licesensed in the states, it's a 3 year program). The school also takes about 10-20 students a year for an extended track 5 year D.O. program for under-represented minorities. Class size will not increase any more, as per the words of the Dean herself. The first year class this year is a bit larger because they accepted the same amount of people but had the highest percentage ever of students offered admission actually attend. They already have over 1500 applications for next year also. The past 5-10 years has seen application rates to all med schools decrease because the economy was so good, but professional schools of late, especially DO schools, has seen a rapid rise in applicants because the job market sucks.
Anyway, the class size here is a bit large, but I dont have a problem with it. You definitely dont get your hand held and spoon fed the material, but it makes you more of an independent thinker anyway.
good luck.
