NYMC: decision via email or snail mail?

Please help! I just checked my NYMC status site and it says that my final decision letter was sent a few days ago. Now, if it's an acceptance, would they have sent an email congratulating me, or do they solely send mail notifications?

Also, I have been on the waitlist, so if anyone knows whether their waitlist is moving, please let me know. Any help appreciated!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

I'll keep my fingers crossed. It just sucks that they're sending it to my permanent address so will probably have to hear the news second hand.

when did you interview? i have a friend who is still waiting to hear back from them.

Calbear, I interviewed on 12/18/01 and was put on the waitlist at the end of march. I didn't expect to hear anything until May, so I've pretty much stopped thinking about this whole process bc I could go crazy thinking about it. But seeing that a "decision letter" has been sent, I'm now getting stressed again!

I'm literally in the same boat as you're. I had my interview in early December and was placed on their waitlist in early March. After reading your post, I also checked my status and got the same message dated 4-16-02. I will keep ya posted if I get the letter before you. Good luck!

Thanks for your post Patiently Waiting. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just had a dream last nite that it was all a mistake--that they updated the wrong person's status page.

My permanent address is in SF and I noticed that you're from the Bay Area, so I think we'll receive it at the same time. But I've been freaking out bc usps.gov says that first class mail from ny to ca should take 3 days. Since neither of us have received it yet, it might mean that it is a bigger package??? &lt;&lt;crossing fingers&gt;&gt;

Okay lets all just take a deep breath: in... and out... again, in... and out... Do not be fooled by the status message when you login to the NYMC website. I checked mine and it said "Decision letter mailed 06/06/02" but when I called them on 06/07 the admissions lady said they were merely up-dating their database and that I'm still on the waitlist. Right then my heart sank and I aged another ten years. Haha and I thought it was an acceptance letter.
Blaaaa to their cruelty.

The decision letters come by snail mail this year also. A big white envelope.

I know someone who got in off the waitlist 2 weeks ago. so it looks like it is moving.

Can you tell us when that person who got off the waitlist at NYMC got waitlisted? Did s/he interview early?

She interviewed early feb, so I guess, was waitlisted in april.

My acceptance went to my Parent's house.
So if your parnet live at your permanant address, tell them to look out for it.
