    Hey everyone,

Interview feedback has been down for about 2 weeks now (what are they doing?!), and I have an interview at NYMC next week. Would people be willing to give me some advice concerning the interview process and/or questions? Rumors are flying that they ask some pretty demanding, red flag questions - but I don't know what that means?

Any help would be really appreciated! :D

p.s. I went to the SDN's interview feedback site, but there aren't any listed for New York Med.

p.p.s. I reached senior member status and I didn't even realize it! <img border="0" alt="[Clappy]" title="" src="graemlins/clappy.gif" /> where did all those posts come from?

The interview is really laid back. The interviewer will ask you some questions regarding your personal statement, etc. It is a close file interview. At the end of your interview you will be asked if there are any red flags on your application; referring to (low grades, low MCATS, withdrawls from classes, etc) Answer the question honestly, and relax the interview is extremely stress free.

NYMC was very friendly and easy. I really liked the school, and the people were all very friendly (the admissions director Carolyn is a sweetheart!).

The red flag thing means that they ask you about anything that stands out as a "red flag" on your app. This could be a poor MCAT section score, a bad semester, a murder conviction, etc. They want to know so that they can defend you to the adcom.

Don't sweat this interview (or any interview for that manner). It's a chance for you to show them that you're qualified for their school on a personal level, so be yourself.

    Good luck!

Although the interview is stress free, be prepared for a marathon of questions. My interviewer tried her best to have a conversation with me, but-at the same time-she wanted to get as much information about me so she could present all of it during the Committee Meeting.

Just be prepared to talk a lot and answer a lot of questions that have to do with your application file. My interviewer basically asked questions that got at my motivations and interests for medicine, which all could have been taken from my AMCAS application.

Good luck! I hope you are accepted.

Yes, I agree with California. I talked nonstop for 45 minutes, because the interviewer basically wanted to know all the details of my life. They ask you one question after another, after another... But I did like the school a lot.

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it :D I'm looking forward to seeing the school, especially the anatomy lab! I've heard so many great things about it.

Are there any other SDNer's that can give me some more imput about NYMC and what to expect before I head on over to the east coast?

    bumpity bump.

Yeah the anatomy lab is open to the sunlight!!! woohoo!!! So even though you never go outside during med school, you still know the sun exists. :)

The interview was stress-free as everyone said. I even disagreed with my interviewer on a couple things but it made for intelligent discussion and not bantering... Just take it easy... it was my best interview thus far.
