Hey all...

I was one (of many?) of the unfortunate souls to be waitlisted by NYMC... I interviewed very early (like August)... really liked the school and its location, then I got the thin letter right before Christmas (thanks, Santa).

My question is: How long will the wait be? I mean, are they going to string us along like abunch of jackasses until April or May? Or later? Should I send an update letter to let them know that I'm still interested?

Anyone from last year know how long the waitlist-turnover time *typically* is?

thanks!

I got in off the waitlist last year in early June...I think like June 3rd or something. I don't think there was much movement before then. But in general, there isn't much movement on any school's waitlists until like late May, when the applicants with multiple acceptances have to narrow their choices down to one. It is a long wait, but keep your mind on other aspects of your life right now. You know what they say about a watched kettle. Good luck!

I am also waitlisted. I looked at last years thread and there was no movement until June and some in July. A M1 who goes there now said about 1/2 the class is off the waitlist. I get the feeling they waitlist alot of people to see who has interest in the school. It sucks to have to wait like 6 months though. I didnt think they started interviewing until the end of september though, are you sure you interviewd in August? Also if you read the WL letter it says we will be reviewed periodically over the next few months - I dont understand that if we cant get in before june whats the point?

i too was waitlisted right before christmas. i had interviewed in the middle of october. this sucks! but half of the class getting in off of it? that's not too shabby...

I guess alot of people were waitlisted. Since they interview like 1300 and only reject a few (my gues is like 100-200) post interview that means alot are waitlisted/accepted. I might call to see if people ever get off the waitlist before June or if its a june and after thing only.

Are you still considering NYMC even though you got into RWJ?

i am definitely still considering nymc. i am also waiting on a bunch of other schools and have a few more interviews coming up, but i liked nymc. i'm not in love w/ rwj at all and really hope that i have some other options as well. would you choose rwj over nymc? where else are people who were waitlisted at nymc considering or waiting for?

Yeah... my interview was in early september (the first week), not august. it was 'my first time'... hahaha

I know they probably (?) waitlist alot of people b/c alot of people apply there as a "backup" and whatnot, but I really liked NYMC... I loved the location, curriculum, everything, except the price tag, of course.

I've been accepted to a few other places (instate), but I would love to give NYMC a second look, but that seems pretty stupid considering I'm on the darn waitlist.

Wake2Wake7 did you go to Wake Forest university because I did. Yes I liked NYMC alot too and its probably my first choice. A ton of people do get waitlisted it seems.....

bobodr-

whatsup. nah. my screen-name is from wakeboarding. a "wake-to-wake 7" is a 720 that you do from one wake to the other (as opposed to off a double-up)... pretty sure that probably means nothing to you, but i spent a whole summer trying to land one and i finally stomped it...

but yeah, i really liked nymc as well. its not that i would be unhappy at any of my other choices at this point, i would just really like to live in nyc (ie for clinicals)...

Just to shed some light for your waitlisted kids. I'm a current MS1 and we usually dont take off before may 15, but majority of the movement happens between june and july. If you guys are seriously interested in attending this school I'd definately keep them updated, especially near the may 15th date. When it comes to waitlists, continued interest helps a lot. A quick story, one of my good buddies here was waitlisted and sent about 5 update emails between his WL and june 3. On his last update email he was sent a response and said that he has been accepted and they are overnight sending him his acceptance, so continued interest (not an annoying amount tho) does help. If any of you have any specific questions about the school, feel free to PM me. Best of luck

I'm not going to NYMC, but I got off the WL in june.
