I heard that NYU and Brown do not have normal accreditation, is this true? Does anyone know about this?

as far as I know there is only one kind of accreditation and that is by the American Medical Association. Schools can lose their accreditation if they fall below certain guidelines, but I don't think either of these schools would even come close to losing accreditation...here is NYU's accreditation page....http://www.nyu.edu/accreditation/ just look it up, easiest way to answer your own question...this is the board that accredits medical schools... http://www.lcme.org/

I think that this was true for Brown in the early 70's when the medical school was being rebuilt. They have had a normal accreditation for quite some time now.
I don't know about NYU.

The other accreditation is by the LCME and they are both accredited by it
