NYU, TUFTS AND COLUMBIA; Any spots left at these schools?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know that Tufts, has more deposits at this time than there are places. I interviewed there a few weeks back, and discovered that they were only interviewing for waitlist positions. So if you haven't interviewed there yet, then I'd say that Tufts is pretty full. From what I hear, NYU has still got some spots.

Columbia has already thrown out a lot of acceptances.

Did you hear back yet from Tufts about whether you got waitlisted or not? Are you going to put the deposit down if so?

What do you mean by "thrown out" a lot of acceptances?

Yeah I heard back from Tufts, I got waitlisted. Haven't decided if I"ll put the deposit down. Why? are you waitlisted at Tufts as well?

Columbia is almost full. I spoke to them recently and they told me that they had to turn down/waitlist qualified candidates because it's so late in the game.

I'm surprised you were able to come across such sensitive information from Columbia. Are you serious about what you're saying? If so, then why were they still interviewing applicants this past Friday??? Surely they wouldn't perform interviews for no reason.

I don't think that was "sensitive" information. It's understandable, even expected. This late in the game, there are qualified applicants who aren't accepted because they are competing for the last few seats. Had they applied earlier, they may have gotten in... that's all. I'm sure they're not interviewing applicants for no reason but there are very few seats left and someone who may have been accepted if it was earlier may be put on the waitlist now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's impossible to be accepted at this point. Hope I made sense...
