eeep this is down to the wire. I really loved both these schools, and had decided that I was happy going to whichever is cheaper. Mount Sinai was significantly cheaper because of aid until recently (earlier today) when NYU gave me a similar scholarship. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Here's my pro/con for each school

Mt Sinai:
+
location near central park (I like to run)
+about 5K/yr cheaper
+testing seems really stress free and awesome
+friendly faculty
+friendly culture
-maybe too campy of a culture for me
- lower ranked (but really does this matter?)

NYU
+1.5 year pre-clinical
+step 1 after yr 3 = better score
+more fun educational technology
+stronger in research
+no bs kinda of culture
-maybe more competitive
-more stressful clinical years (maybe)

Also if anyone could help me with these questions for NYU and Sinai that would be awesome!
1. Average step schools?
2. What is the gym situation at each school?
3. Which one is closer to a trader joes?
4. Where do people study in each (since NYU has no library especially?

:D

1. Sinai has some of the highest Step scores in the country.

2. Sinai has just installed a brand new gym, complete with a large weight room, fantastic cardio room, and separate yoga room. You will not find better.

3. NYU is closer to a Trader Joe's. However, Sinai gives you significant discounts on grocery shopping at local stores (as well as discounts on your phone bill, cheap tickets to sports/theaters/operas/movies, discounts on haircuts, cheaper flights, car rentals...essentially anything you can think of).

4. Sinai has a gorgeous library overlooking New York City. Again, you will not find better.

Just to say I'm not sure writing step1 in 3rd year will lead to a better score.

NYU had a library that opened this month apparently. They also have a bunch of small libraries in the hospital and study spaces in the building across the street. You definitely won't yave a problem trying to find a place to study.

You'll do fine coming from either school and you seem to prefer Sinai, so there is no reason not to just pick Sinai
