NYU is one of the most expensive schools on the planet, paying back your debt (if you need to borrow) will force you to live like a student for years into your career, interest will balloon your debt to around $300,000.00 NOBODY will tell you that though. Classes are shamefully overcrowded, 20% of faculty are great, the rest could care less. On the bright side I was able to TEACH MYSELF dentistry with the large amount of patients you get to work with, but I can count the personal attention I got with anything on my fingers.

Hi Richard,
the horrible picture of NYU that you paint sounds pretty much the same as everything else I've heard about the school from some other individuals. I'm so obsessed with finding the truth behind the attrition(kick-out?) rate for NYU it's scarry. This is because it's the only school that I've been officially accepted to and sent in a deposit for. (I've been waitlisted at a couple of others).

During my interview tour I thought the school was fairly decent, but the rumors of them getting rid of a large % of their students after the 1st and 2nd year is the main reason for my reservations about making a full comitment.

I'm just curious to find out what other current, or former, students at NYU think about their program and the education they got for the huge debt they now have to pay back.

I would really appreciate ANY and ALL suggestions from anyone.

Thanks,
Lilly

A certain amount of students are "thrown out" but I dont know if the percentage or if it is higher than other schools and I dont know if you could get an honest assesment from the dean who is only preoccupied with his "Global impact" obcession. If you need more info, contact me personally. RL
