Craaaap!! Ok, so I procrastinated on this a bit and only now just saw my doctor a few days ago. I didn't realize it would be so hard or there would be so many tests/titers to take. If you guys haven't gotten started on this, I would begin to do so immediately.

you need to have titers done too, and those takes at least 1 week to get the lab result back if you go to regular clinic. You probably get it done a little faster than that if you go to a big hospital where labs are there too.
For Tuberculosis, you need to wait for 24-48 hrs to see if you have positive reaction. If positive, then you need to take x-ray as well.

Thing is all costs quite a bit and not covered by insurance.

Got everything turned in today :D

In the past I was tested positive for the skin test and did the x-ray. The x ray showed that it was negative. That was in high school, I had to do the skin test because I played soccer. The reason why the skin test was positive is because the test reacted to the vaccine that I had when I was born in my country. Now, all the physician did was ask me a couple of questions...do you cough and sweat at night?...etc. I don't have to do the skin test again. Wahhh hooo:hardy:

NYU wants the lab results for titers too. They called me and asked for it after I faxed over the medical record form. If you've gotten the meningitis vaccination, they want proof of that too. Seems like they want proof for everything!

I am going through the exact same thing right now. I am living in Tokyo until July 12th and the entire country is out of the reagent for the Measles titer test! There is an article at the below link with the title, "Antibody tests on measles to be suspended because of shortage of drugs". What timing. I have e-mailed Dr. Mejia to see what impact this will have because I am obviously not going to make the June 4th fax deadline but I haven't heard back yet.

Yea...they told me to talk to Dr. Mejia too. I just got my hep B shot, I had the TB skin test (negative), and i had a few titers sent out. I'm gonna turn in as much as I can, but i don't know if it'll be complete.

One thing you can get on is GET YOUR IMMUNIZATION RECORD FROM YOUR HIGH SCHOOL if your current doctor doesn't have records from when you were young. It's been a pain in the a@# to get.

I also emailed dr. mejia, i don't think I'll have everything ready by the deadline. What do you guys think the consequences will be? I read on the website that all the lab reports have to be in at least 1 month prior to orientation or else we will not be able to register for classes.

One month before orientation won't be a problem; that would be July 20th and it's not even June yet. Hopefully a couple days after june 4th will be ok also.

I got that info from this page

http://www.nyu.edu/dental/bulletin/gipolicies.html

Further information can be obtained from the Health Screening Unit; telephone: 212-998-9314; fax: 212-995-4259/4240. Students are asked to mail all vaccination records one month prior to orientation, to NYUCD/Health Screening Unit, 345 East 24th Street, #1162W, New York, NY 10010-4086. Exact dates are required for all immunizations. Incomplete documents will be returned. Documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by English translation and certified for accuracy.

I got my packet and was so concerned with things like deposits and housing that I forgot all about the health/immunizations till the last minute!

I'm sure they'll call you if you're missing anything. I got a call asking for the titer results a day after I faxed my medical record form to them. The lady told me I could have them faxed over as late as end of June. I'm hoping I'm not missing anything else though.

Besides those 3 forms, the school wants titers and that's it. You have to draw blood and send it to the lab.

The two record forms, the meningitis form, and the titer results all need to be faxed in.

For the MMR titer, you only need the IGG -- not IGM. Will save you 80 bucks.

Has anyone who is going to be late on this heard back from Dr. Mejia? I have emailed twice telling her about the Measles reagent shortage in Japan and that I wont be in the states for another month but I havent heard back from her.

i didn't have 2 of my titers done and in fact cannot have them done until mid july b/c I just revaccinated and you have to wait 6 weeks. I called and the lady said to just get it in when i could. I think as long as you turn in something you're ok.

I emailed Dr. Mejia telling her that I will not be on time with my titers. She said that I have to fax what I have and to also let the health screening unit know when I expect to have the forms completed. I'm still waiting on the lab results for my titers.

Make sure you have a copy of all your titers and immunizations from your doctor. Some members from the class of 2007 were told their application was no longer valid unless they could prove they turned in their transcripts and immunization records. Those who didn't have copies on hand got screwed - some were even told to go home and they'd be added to the class of 2008. During orientation they told me I had 24 hours to produce a signed and sealed copy of my transcript or else I'd have to go home.

When I went to the immunization office to get my record checked, the nurse tried to give me the varicella vaccine even tho I told her I had chicken pox when I was 10. The only thing that stopped her from giving me the injection was showing her my titers and paperwork from my doctor that I kept in my pocket. She also tried to give me the HPV vaccine even tho I told her I didn't want it.
