I'm an English major that suddenly decided to take on Dentistry; what order should I take the sciences? This is what I think I have to do:

Chem 1
Chem 2
Organic Chem 1
Organic Chem 2
Bio 1
Bio 2
Physics 1
Physics 2

Is that right? Or should I take Biology before Organic?

Im a Chem major, I never needed any biology experience to handle OChem. I would take Chem1/OChem1, Chem2/OChem2 together... I might help you a little... The rest dont really matter, take them whenever you can.

Make sure you prep well for Ochem tho. Do all the assignments right away! One can get left behind very easily... happened to a few of my friends. Many people dread Ochem... but study it like the bible and u will ace it.

Let Me In,

Thanks for the info. My university doesn't allow me to take Chemistry I and Organic I as corequistes; I would have to take Chem I first, then Organic. Should I do that, then go on to Chem 2?

My advice do gen chem 1 and bio 1 plus their labs. Once your done, then tackle physics and ochem.

I'd get both halves of Gen Chem out of the way, then do o-chem. Might as well get the second half of General out of the way while the first half is still fresh.

And o-chem has *nothing* to do with biology. You don't need any biology background to do it, just a solid understanding of Gen Chem.

gotcha big guy, thanks! 🙂

i am a bio major and this is how i did mine:

Bio 1 & Chem 1
Bio 2 & Chem 2
Ochem 1 & Physics 1
Ochem 2 & Physics 2

all with labs.....

I agree with Comet 208 and aphistis. Actually this fall I'm taking O Chem1, Phy 1 and Bio 2.... so my load is a bit varied. I'm taking Chem 2 and Anatomy & Physiology this summer. Working hard to get as many pre-reqs out of the way as soon as humanly possible. Keep plugging away and good luck!

W I M M C S,

I plan on doing that too... exactly the same as you are. Do you thing that is insane or managable?

I truly think if you are focused and have a strong desire, you will not be able to only manage this load well, but also get good grades. I plan on getting straight A's!! That's my goal, that's what I'm aiming for and I'll do my best to get there. Also, I do have a family including 3 children and plan on becoming very organized to achieve my goal. I do have a strong desire to succeed, and I'm thinking this will help me tremendously to get to where I'm going. Good luck and if you want to talk during the semester to "vent", don't hesitate to send me a pm.

cool, ill add you to my buddy list
