OAT scores (low QR!!)

I just took the OAT today, I'm generally happy with my scores but I did really bad in QR and RC. I'm planning on applying to Illinois, Indiana, Ferris, SUNY, and Pennsylvania...are these scores good enough to get me in? Should I apply to more schools, how many is the norm? I don't care where I have to go, as long as I get in this year.

Those scores should be good enough to get you into optometry school; most definitely at Pennsylvania (based on my visit there last spring), assuming you have a good amount of shadowing experience and that your sci gpa is similar to your overall of 3.6
I can't say with absolute certainty for the other schools you mentioned, but I'd guess you'd still be in good shape.

Also, a lower score in QR is very easy to explain by saying you were tired at the end of test, so don't fret over it. Besides, many people would be perfectly happy with those oat scores!

I wouldn't really call that a low score. 300 and above is decent, and since that's the only low score of the bunch the others average it out. You should get an interview to all of the schools if your application is in good shape, and if you interview well you should have no problem getting in. Good luck!

I just got accepted to SUNY (huge relieve!), but believe it or not they did asked me "what happened?" about my QR of 330. It was my lowest score on the test, and I did give them a standard "at the end of the test I was loosing my brainpower" answer. So, I think you will definitely get into Optometry school, but where, it depend on the pool of applicants you are competing with. But, at the end of it all, the school you went to hardly matters, as long as you earned O.D. next to your name

Thanks so much guys, that makes me feel much better. I'm a little worried about applying so late, it'll be another month or so before everything comes together. I know SUNY is probably a long shot, but that isn't really my first choice, congrats on getting in Natasha! So I'll just stick to those five schools for now. Thanks again.
