Question 1:
In centric relation, the cusp tip of the distolingual cusp of the permanent mandibular first molar

1. contacts the distolingual surface of the opposing tooth
2. contacts the lingual groove of the opposing molar
3. ascend above the middle third of the opposing crown
4. functions above the plane of orientation
5. has no antagonist

Answer: 5

I thought the answer was 2 because according to the decks, the distolingual cusp of the mandibular first premolar is the Lingual Groove of Maxillary 1st molar.

Is the answer 5 because we are talking about the cusp TIP?

Question 2:
In ideal lateral excursion on a patient with ideal occlusion, the mesial cusp ridge of the mandibular first premolar contacts the

1. distolingual surface of the maxillary canine
2. distolingual slope of the buccal cusp of the maxilary first premolar
3. mesiolingual slope of the buccal cusp of the maxillary first premolar
4. none of the above

Answer: 3

I had a hard time deciding between 1 and 3. Does anyone know why #1 could not be a right choice?
