Hi all,

I am applying for the Fall 2015 cycle at various schools, but I was also thinking about applying to Pharmacy and PA school as a backup. My only thought, and I have not seen a thread in here similar, is that Medical school will be able to see my application and view that as "He doesn't truly know what he wants to do" and just disregard my application. I know that I want to be in the medical field, but my chances are slim due to a previous GPA. Therefore, I am covering my bases by applying to multiple areas. Will the Admissions committee have similar thought pattern as mine? (The medical, pharmacy, and PA school are all at the same university, there are others I am considering applying to also, but the main ones are all at the same school)

Thanks!

This a fairly common question at med school interviews: "So, you're interested in health care. PA training is shorter and less expensive than medical school. Why do you want to be a physician and not a PA?" I was asked this two or three times, but I had an answer ready. Will you?

If you want to be a physician, it doesn't make any sense to apply to PA schools as a backup.* If you want to be a PA, it doesn't make any sense to apply to medical school. You'll have to make a choice.

*Unless you've already applied to medical school unsuccessfully a few times. In that case, it might be time to re-evaluate your career options, and going PA would not be a bad idea.

This will be my first application cycle, so your disclaimer does not apply. This does make sense though. Thank you.
