Hi,

I'm finding my scores jump between 5 to 12, every few days.
With that, i really have no idea if i'm making progresss.
I also know, that aside from AAMC, none of the test scaled scores are very accurate. So, let's combine our experiences, re port something for each book you've used.

Rules; Report:
for REAL tests, not questions sets...
for For ones with scaled scores...
not which are easy or hard but rather is the scaled score you get likely to be higher or lower then you're true scaled score if you took the mcat the next day.

My input:

Princeton review exams (tests A-D, not the d iagnostics): waaay lower. (i.e. they are hard and don't reward with higher score)
PR Diagnostics by Flowers and Silver = about equal to higher (Easy).

Please add.

I hope you're right....I just got back my TPR diagnostic....not so good. 🙁 If the real MCAT is higher by about 10 points then I'm excited. I haven't studied yet so that might also have something to do with my score.

Back to the books.

PR diags are usually easier. Kaplan's tests are harder. Why are you guys worrying though? These are some of your first tests.

by higer, i mean, the score you get on that is higher then the score you would get. i.e., normal score, 10, score on a particular test, 12. (sorry for the dis-encouragement, but you will improve a lot, chapinsita 🙂, just practice)

why i'm worried, because i've been studying since may or june. it's my first full length test, but i've been studying a lot. Also, i just want peoples ball park of how accurate they are, regardless.

oops- I see what you mean.
Yea, a lot of the physics stuff I knew that I used to know back when I took physics 3 years ago. I just need to remember all that stuff but starting today I am on a strict study schedule. And Sonya, don't worry, I think that what you study in the 10 weeks before the exam is what's going to make the difference. That's the stuff that'll be fresh in your mind.

I had heard just the opposite that Princeton Reivew diagnostics were harder than the real thing and Kaplan tests tended to be easier and scored on an easier scale. There are 2 people in my PR class right now who previously took Kaplan and had their scores go down on the real thing. I also think if you study you'll improve since a lot of people take the diagnostic exams without having seen the material in awhile.

heard Kaplan diagnostics are much harder -this is from people who took both PR and Kaplan courses. I am going to try out some PR tests and take a look myself.

I have heard that TPR are harder than Kaplan but cannot elaborate further for I am taking TPR. Our first diag had scores ranging from the low teens to mid-twenties.

TPR is much harder, ive taken both TPR and Kaplan tests.

TPR is also give a very inaccurate representation of the MCAT. Their verbal passages are 25% too long and their questions are more detail based (as opposed to main idea based).

I scored a 4 on my first TPR verbal.

I usually score around 10 on Kaplan, EK and AAMC tests.

Kaplan full-length diags and in-lesson book passages are much harder than TPR. I have taken both courses. Another thing, TPR....putting difficulty aside, are not similar to the real MCAT. Their questions types are so messed up.

so far... i'm getting ~ 6 in TPR and 11-13 in AAMC III (granted the fact that I am repeating AAMC II will boost my score, but it's been several months). yep, at least for me, it's much harder. My bio is equally miserable, 6-8 vs 9-11.

Berkeley review actually seems to produce for me higher scores then AAMC. I get the same perentage right, but there scaled score are higher (for scores above 9-10, that is).

I scored the same on AAMC III and IV as I did on the real MCAT last august.

My score was three points lower on AAMC V than the real MCAT.
