It would seem that stanford does not provide the opportunity for interviewees to be hosted by a med student.
Those of you who have already interviewed there, how is accommodation? Did you just stay in a hotel? Does the school have a dorm or hostel interviewees can pay to stay in?
Any info would be much appreciated.

quake,

Congrats on getting an interview at Stanford :)

I have not interviewed there so I can't help you out on accomodations. I am anxiously waiting to hear from Stanford though, can share when your application was complete and when you got the invite?

Good luck!

stanford does have a student host program. call them and ask them about it. some student named rosalynn coordinates it. ask the admissions office for her e-mail address. good luck!

Dr. Corday.
I was complete mid November. I received the letter yesterday :) . I actually feel humbled.

Calbear. Thanks.
I'll call them and see whats up!

They're supposed to be letting me know about an interview very shortly as well.

Good luck! Let me know what you discover regarding accomdations, should I be so lucky as to get an interview...

i have Rosalyn's email, if anybody still needs it.
just PM me.
i'm not sure i should go around posting it up here.

if you choose the hotel route, don't go to the Days Inn. it was ghetto!

I literally planned the trip last minute (hours) so I wasn't able to make plans to stay with a host, but like it's been told here: they definetly have a host program.

I didn't even bother with scouting for a hotel until I got there, and I ended up staying at a Motel 6 in friggin' Sunnyvale, Ca! It was the cheapest I found off the 101 freeway, and it been near 12pm I decided to stay there. Not bad, it was $65 including tax (if I remember correclty) and it was a 15-20 minute drive to the med school.

Anyway, I recommend the host thing if you're not a last-minute planner like me.

My application was complete in January, due to a problem on their part. They told me that my application was just waiting on the Dean's final decision, and that their two reviewers had their files in already. I seemed to get the impression that they would have something for me this week or so...

So, perhaps you don't need to wait for too much longer...

As a previous poster mentioned, you just have to call them up and they will try to set you up with a student.

I talked with a current Stanford student who does some admissions stuff and he said that the individuals that do not stay with students are the ones that do not ask. If you ask, they will accomodate. I am not sure why they do not advertise that, but ...

brandonite,
Did you call them? I wonder whether I should contact them too...

I emailed Patricia Perez. She's one of their admission councillors. She got back to me right away with my status. Juhn Verano is their other councillor, and others have said great things about him, as well.

Do you need her email?

I've got Patricia's address and just sent her an email! Thanks for the advice

Good luck! Let me know how things pan out. I've restricted myself to emailing her once a week - I don't want to be a menace. So, I have to wait until next Monday to email her again. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

I got a Stanford invite in the mail yesterday. It was postmarked March 1.

I have had to revive this post just to warn you guys that my susppicions have been confirmed. Stanford students are in their finals week or something like that so they are not providing student hosting (at least, I'm sure about the last week of March). Tough luck guys.
