Just wanted to start a thread about UC applications.

    1. If we're applying to more than one UC, do we check all of them, or do we only check the school which we're sending the application to at the top of page 1?

    1. A: I was planning on just checking the school I'm sending it to.

    2. Q: Do you think we should really include ALL previous employment? (like if I worked full time between freshman and sophomore year as a sales associate)

i'd include it all - its an experience to draw upon no matter how off topic it may seem.

Ok, for the extracurriculars and post-secondary experiences, are you guys writing a description or just listing the activity, date and time spent?

i'm just listing -- there doesn't seem to be room for writing a description unless i want to limit myself to only a few activities. i figure they can read it on the amcas application if they want to know the details.

Thanks! That's what I was doing as well, but didn't want them to think I was too lazy to write out a description

So I was thinking... The UC's have this application, because AMCAS is screwy. However, you basically have to have your AMCAS app verified before submitting the UC app, right? If you don't, how will you know what your freshman, sophomore, junior, etc... GPA's are? I'm starting to worry about AMCAS verifying my app and would like to turn in the UC app in a reasonable amount of time.

    You have to have the AMCAS application verified before turning in the academic record to the UC's? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> I didn't!

no no, don't start panicking or anything. i'm not saying you HAVE to. i'm just saying how do you know what the gpa's are or that you didn't make a mistake in classifying a bcmp course unless you've had it verified?

in response to lola's above post, I think the UC app is there so that the UCs can see your grades BEFORE the amcas has been verified and transmitted, which is the whole point of sending them in before the amcas. So in my opinion you don't have to panic.

Random question: Do you guys think that they will review apps based on order they receive their own application or order they receive AMCAS? It seems like AMCAS is doing really well so far with transmission (although I know I probably shouldn't have too much faith) so the UC app seems a little pointless.

But i guess i just have to suck it up and do the UC app sometime soon....

Has your amcas app been transmitted to the UCs? On many of the UC web pages, they state something like what UCI has posted: "Information on your status will not be available until your electronic data has been forwarded to us by AMCAS"

QUESTION: Is this optional, or do we need to complete this in ADDITION to the AMCAS application?

  23. jot

    jot

out of ucla, ucsf, ucsd, it is optional for la and sd. however, it is not optional for ucsf, and must be filed in addition to amcas. but if you fill it out for one school, you might as well send it to all of them.

    QUESTION:

What is the difference between #10 and #11?

    Is #11 supposed to be #9 + #10?

basically, write whatever u need to include as long as none of the items are listed more than once. i.e. if it doesn't fit in 10, move to 11 and vice versa. that's what i did.

I know must of you have already done the UC app...did you have any problems with saving and stuff? When i click on the button to download the app (either .doc or .rtf), it asks me for a username and password. If i just press cancel it takes me to the app but I cant save it. Any advice?

    thanks yall

    good luck to us all.

  30. I cannot access the UCSF or UCI 2003 status. I submitted my UC application in late June and my AMCAS has already been processed. I know my AMCAS has been transmitted to UCI but probably not UCSF yet since they requested only paper copies from AMCAS. So my UCI 2003 status should work, but once I type in my id# and birthday, I get the message "Access Denied". Does this happen to anyone else? Is anyone able to access the UCSF or UCI application status?

  31. jot

    jot

i can't access any of the UC app stuff either (Status page) - but i wouldn't be concerned - it takes a while especially because the data entry is goign to be done by hand (from paper apps).

dr kevin40 - i wouldn't include the blank pages - i think they know what they look like.

has anyone been able to access the aplication status pages for ucsf, uci, ucla, ucd, ucsd, and stanford? i've inputted my info but only uci works. even so, uci says that only my amcas has been received--the uc application is not recorded even though i sent it about two weeks before i was processed....WEIRD!

    from UCI's website
"For entering Fall 2003, all applicants for the UCI College of Medicine must complete both the AMCAS application and the required UC Application"

UCD doesn't specify. since i had sent to the other schools, i just checked the other box and sent to UCD as well.

  36. For UC Irvine, the application status page works for me BUT they do not have my UC application even though I sent it to them in late June. Is any's UC application show up as "Received" on the status page?

For UCSF, both my AMCAS and UC app are listed as "Not Received". I dunno what's up with that.

My status page on Stanford's webpage works fine an d is correct.

    Anyone else having similar problems?

is ucsd's secondary comment about a 2-page autobiography two pages single spaced ~ 1500 words or 2 page double space ~800 words, or it doesn't matter?

I'm such an idiot. I sent in the 2002 UC app. instead. UCSF just sent it back to me and asked me to fill out the 2003 one. I sent the 2002 one to all the UC's, should I just mail them the 2003 one? I got the UCSD secondary, so I'm thinking that they don't care much for the UC app.
