Were there any scores released this week?
I just reset UWorld without doing the incorrects so I could get through as many questions as possible.
Took it mid July and my scheduling permit expired with no score posted this week. However, my permit window also ended on July 31st, so I have a feeling that's why the permit is gone.
Was waiting to post till I got my Comlex scores back. Hope everyone got the score they wanted.
Step 1: 244
Level 1: 52X
Step 2: 243
Level 2: 62X
NBME 6: 208 - Before I started dedicated
UWSA 1: 241
UWSA 2: 242
NBME 8: 247
Uworld 2x and onlinemeded is all I really used to study. Didn't get the score I wanted, was looking to jump a few points on step 2. Hopefully my scores are competitive enough to secure some interviews for Gen Surg. Time to put this test behind me. Cheers.
Yes , I know ! It's very annoying having to wait so long. I talked to a couple of interns who took step 2 CK last year after June 30 and the same thing happened to them. It seems like it happens every year for step 2 CK. I also called the USMLE about 2 weeks ago and they confirmed that the scores will be released on Aug, 29. We should still keep our hopes up. We'll see next Wednesday.
Don’t think so. Unfortunately, I think we are all in a holding pattern until Aug 29.
Hi guys. Hope you all are doing well.
IMG from Pakistan here. This thread has helped me a lot. So I thank everyone here for that.
Step 1: 245
UWorld percentage: 71% (did only once)
UWSA 1 (10 days out): 244 (71% correct)
UWSA 2 (2 days out): 244 (71% correct)
Free 120 (1 day out): 85%
I did uworld once and made notes. I'm revising my notes now and have been revising notes between UWSA 1 and UWSA 2.
My exam is in a day (day after tomorrow). Fingers crossed. I just hope i score in 240s (preferably >245). Lets see what happens. I'll be so glad when this is over!
Any suggestions as to what i should be doing today and tomorrow?
I'll update this thread once i receive my score. Wish me luck! And good luck to everyone!
EDIT: 8th August, 2018:
Gave the exam today. It was very very tiring, but I'm just glad it's over!! Although I found it hard, I was already expecting that because of this amazing thread. I went in with not a lot of hope, trusting my UWSAs, and wrote the exam on autopilot mode. I hope I get a score near my UWSAs, or maybe even higher. I'll be more than happy. Will keep you guys updated.
Once again. Thank you everyone for your input. Really helped me a lot.
There's a screening podcast that you can listen to by divine intervention. Google divine intervention screening podcast. Very good for those easy points. Thanks again and good luck!
Last 2 weeks before Step 2 CK. Any advice on what to do? Just finished 1st pass of UW with around 65% avg and scored 220ish on NBME 8. About ~800 incorrects. Haven't taken UWSA's yet. Can I plow through OME and read my FA CK with the incorrects in this short amount of time?
Today (two days before your exam), consider going through flash cards you've made, reviewing your UW notes, and some of the HY facts from First Aid for CK. Tomorrow (one day before your exam), make sure you have everything you need for the testing center. If you want, spend no more than a few hours reviewing flash cards. Most importantly, relax! You're almost there!
Does the OASIS trick work for CK nowadays?
(For those of you who don't know: In ECFMG OASIS if you took the exam and aren't able to make a new application, chances are you passed.)
So it seems we will have to wait until August 29...
Exam in 5 days and just received an e-mail from the NBME regarding navigating issues with abstract item sets. =/
I can confirm, i had some issue with my second abstract... july 14
What did the email say I also had issues with my abstract.
Will they throw those out for all since mine lagged and then no time to report it at end
Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile
I also had an abstract glitch. Any new info?? I was told they are analyzing my complaint and would report on in once scores come out...idk what they will end up doing but I imagine they will say you can either retake the test or take your score....
Got my email today...options were 1. Take your score and the abstract questions dont count
2. Retake test for free
I would take the score and not count the abstract questions unless you want to go through the hell of a 9 hour exam again
That's what I am doing
do they tell you the score?
Nah. They essentially said since they dont have the scores so they have no idea if my score would be impacted....which doesnt make sense cuz it doesnt take a genius to see how that section would be impacted. Not only did I have to deal with 3 automatic incorrects but I didnt have time to focus on other questions in that section. I probably wasted 10 mins total on the abstract cuz I thought I was doing something wrong. In the end I doubt one bad section will matter... unless of course all my other sections bent me over.
If I was trying to become an astronaut surgeon I'd be mad but I'm going for EM and have good step 1 and a hopefully a good step 2 if it is within my UWSAE avg.
Did you redo your corrects as well during your second pass on UWorld?
Not sure what to do and was wondering if I can get some input.
Using OME (videos only) UWorld timed, subject-wise and still have half of cardio and all of surgery todo and go over my notes/notebook of incorrect...
USWA2: 228 (ugh)
Test was originally the 15th but scheduled it 8/21/18. Should I just focus on incorrects or do you think it'll be worth doing another run through of OME? (10 videos a day), What do you think would push me over at least a 235 with the time i have left?
I think UW is king for this exam. OME is a great resource for building concepts, but it's not really meant to be rushed through with 10 videos a day (at least in my opinion). I think you should focus on finishing up whatever UW you have remaining and go through the incorrects if you can. That is the highest yield strategy for you to get where you need to be with less than a few weeks left. I'm also taking it on the 21st. Got a 242 on UWSA1, 220 on NBME 8, and I'm taking UWSA 2 in a few days. Good luck to us both!
Thanks for the input! And good luck to you as well! If you don't mind, do you mind sharing how you do on the USWA 2? It just seemed a lot harder than the first one!
Anybody use any qbanks other than UWORLD throughout the year?
This gives me hope because I found timing an issue on the real deal but not on my UWSAs. I rushed so bad on the last few questions each block and on my first block I had to barely skim the last 6 or 7 questions
What was your timeline between NBME 8 and the UWSAs. Did you take NBME 8 first. I had a similar result but haven't taken the UWSA's yet. I am scared I won't do as well and think NBME 8 was a fluke .
I used kaplan and firecracker
I took UWSA1 about 4-5 days before NBME 8. Tbh with you, I'm terrified to take UWSA2. I'm having serious anxiety at the prospect of taking this exam, probably more so than Step 1. I'm just praying I can get a respectable score and not psych myself out beforehand.
That is the main issue here. Just throwing out a question does not address the time it sucked up and then affected the remaining questions by not leaving you with enough time. Probably better for them to normalize the score in some way or throw away that whole block instead of just that question.
Dreamed last night that we were offered early score release for a fee.. We all paid then got back our scores only to find out it was a scam and the scores were fake. I can't anymore.
Yah in the end I get boned but its all good i guess. I figure its only the one block and there are so many questions on the test that in the end if its +/-5 points on my total score I'll be fine with it.
Taking this tomorrow. Aiming for just a pass. Got 230-240 on UWSA 1 and 2 and then 85% on the free 120.
good luck all that are taking it and those getting their scores in soon.
Good luck! I'll take it next wednesday and my UWSA 1 score was 241. I'll take UWSA 2 tomorrow.
Which one is the hardest in your opinion? Are they good predictors?
I felt like the second one was harder for some reason. I scored better on UWSA1 than I did on #2. I'll have to let you know in 4 weeks or so if they were accurate for me but from all of the internet advice I've been looking at, the UWSA are the best predictors for step 2.
Yea, from what I've been seeing, it seems that UWSA 2 is harder AND the best predictor.. Let's see.
Anyway, best of luck on your test! You'll do great!
Somehow I feel like the real exam didn't feel like UWorld at all. On the real exam, I felt the question stems were much shorter and to the point, but the question itself was harder for me. At one point, I felt like I was guessing my way through... And I've never felt that way during the NBMEs or the UWorld SA's.... Anyone had a similar experience?
CK in 2 days..
Took UWSA 2 two days ago and got 245..
Now that i'm reviewing it -- realizing that I had the tendency to choose the wrong answer on my 50/50 choices :\ any advice?
UWSA 1 2.5 weeks ago was 246.
NBME 7 3.5 weeks ago was 221
NBME 6 1 month ago was 241
Also, should I do CMS or just stick to reviewing Uworld tables?
So i just got done with it today. Wow, what a marathon. Who's idea was it to test students for 9 hours straight? :/
It was like a longer and harder UW. Risk factors, Risk factors, Risk factors. And the occasional straight forward question.
Step 1 : 250+
UW - 86%
UWSA1 (4 weeks out) - 260
UWSA2 (1 week out) - 270
Real Deal - ?
At this point id be happy as long as beat my Step 1 Score. Hoping I'm closer to the UWSAs like everyone else.
UWSA 2 is harder.
Just looking for some encouragement. Taking Step 2 CK this Friday and the anticipation anxiety is in full force! Finishing up second pass of Uworld/incorrects until then with review of my notes.
UW 1st pass: ~70-75% throughout 3rd year
UW 2nd pass: ~91% 3 weeks dedicated
NBME 6: 260
NBME 8: 265
(No NBME 7 because I was chicken)
UWSA 1: 270
UWSA 2: 263
Would like to at least beat my step 1 score, which was in the 250s. 260+ would be amazing.
Been following this threat closely and hoping for a fair exam. Looks like everyone feels like crap coming out of it, so I am anticipating that. Any last minute advice is appreciated. Trying to keep stress to a minimum!
I felt the exam was mostly guessing but I also was running out of time on every block so the questions didn’t feel much shorter, I always had extra time on assessments. I’m sure a lot of that was me trying to reason my way through the exam. I honestly cant remember feeling like I “nailed” any Qs.
Edit: now that I think about it the real deal felt like UW but those wtf ambiguous UW questions where you can’t choose between two very probable choices, except a whole exam full of them instead of a few sprinkled in lol
All this means is there's a nasty good curve for us.
Yea... It felt like a trivia quiz game the whole time... Hopefully, the curve will be nice to all of us
That's basically how I felt about the exam honestly.
