I only intimating know the program I graduated from. That being said once you interview at enough places you'll get the "vibe," of each place. I will mention that you should look/investigate old NRMP data about match trends of some of the "well known," and "prestigious," fellowships in the last 2-4 years as some of the results may be surprising to you. Once again when you interview you should see where you rotate, talk to the fellows, ask about recent alumni and where they are now/what track they are on, try to interact and see how faculty interact with you and the fellows, etc.

I cant really answer your question as I dont know your future goals/career path. That being said even if you dont have a completely solid idea about that now they are plenty of great training programs in NYC for ID so I wouldn't worry. Good luck.

Just an FYI University of Maryland was not second round on 7/30. They had issues with their interview broker so they fixed it today and looks like first round invites.

Hmm..I'm a bit confused. I got an email from them saying interview broker was fixed...but no email before inviting for an interview. I'm guessing the second was a mistake?

Hello all!
I wanted to get some insight on Henry Ford VS Mayo Clinic Arizona for ID Fellowship. I am wondering if any of you have experiences in those places? Also, honest opinion on safety of Detroit, etc.

Detroit IM resident here. I've done clinical rotations at many of the South East Michigan hospitals and grew up in a Detroit suburb.
Regarding the safety of Detroit in the last 10 years there has been an economic resurgence downtown, and it is very safe there. Many residents live in the downtown area. There is an outer portion of the city that is not safe, but the outlying suburbs are great places to live [safety, good schools].

Henry Ford will afford a lot of good pathology as they are a liver transplant center and have a transplant fellowship option as well. I would probably rate them as one of the top ID fellowships in the area.

I don't have any experience regarding Mayo Arizona.
