Hi! Looks like there has been a thread every year for this stuff, so I thought to kick us off for this year. Sleep has become more popular over the years, and it sounds like there are a lot of applicants this year which is incredible! Good luck everyone!!!

Anybody know what the average sleep medicine jobs look like? I have tried looking and haven't found a ton in terms of hours or salary.

Did you get a follow-up email from UNC for an interview? ( they initially sent an invite to everyone who applied but sent a follow-up email saying it was a mistake)

FM, applied broadly, ~70 programs. So far got two interviews.

Replying broadly to some prior posts in the thread. I am pulmonary/critical care. Applied to 20 programs. 7 interviews scheduled so far.
My job prospects/salary will be quite different than someone who is IM/FM because I will blend sleep into my outpatient panel with pulmonary diseases, so not sure I can be helpful in that conversation.
Good luck everyone! I definitely think interview invitations will pick up this week!

Hi everyone! IM resident, applied to 30 programs, which was probably overkill. 4 interviews so far.

It would be great if anyone’s interested in starting an anonymous Google document to discuss programs, including general info such as program focus, number of fellows, experiences we’ve heard from past fellows, quality of teaching or research opportunities, and to share our interview experiences. As I was deciding which places to apply to, I was disappointed a document like this didn’t already exist from prior cycles, and I think it would be very useful.

I don’t have experience with setting up an anonymous Google doc, but if anyone’s willing to set this up, please post the document link here so we can all contribute.

Keep the hope. It's still very early and most invites go out in August!! I applied to 8 programs and one interview so far! I expect a big chunk of invites will go out by Friday.

I second this - it's still really early and based on last year's trends a lot more interviews should come out end of this week and through August. You got this!!

Hi everyone sorry if this is a dumb question but the programs I am applying to say 3 letters of recommendation required but they do not have a max listed. Does that mean I should be able to put in 4 letters?

You can upload more. It just means the minimum is 3. I'm not sure if they will honestly look at more than 3, but if you have 4 strong letters I think that is a good thing!

I felt the same way. Hopefully there are more coming in. Fingers crossed! I am still waiting to hear from my most preferred programs too.
 
Still no interview invites. Surprised - I admit I’m not the most competitive applicant but I don’t have any red flags. I didn’t think sleep was so competitive. This year may be a flop for me :(

Hang in there, only ~20/93 programs have sent out invites and August is just beginning. Also, there's been a lot of cyberattacks at Health Systems the last couple of weeks that may have slowed the review process down.
