For all of those who took the exam in April:

This is the official score release thread for the April 2007 MCAT. Feel free to post serious information and announcements about the impending score release. You can post your scores in here when the time comes as well. Post any random musings in the Official May 7 Score Release Countdown Thread so that we can keep this one uncluttered.

This post also serves as a warning to remind you guys that fake threads stating "SCORES ARE UP" will give you an automatic post hold for one week.

Best of luck to everyone waiting! :luck:

I'm already signed up to re-take, was kind of expecting this but still painful:

    PS 07
    VR 13
    BS 09

    29Q

My practice scores were consistently around 31 - but never anything so low in PS

Shiza...the same as my first and lowest practice test, and I had been getting quite a bit higher as I practiced...guess that means summer re-test, or new career...shiza...i only wanted to go to ND though and it's only a point lower than the average accepted score...but whatever.

I was hoping for more along the lines of 31-32, but with a pretty even distribution, I'm debating whether or not I should re-take:

    PS: 10
    VR: 10
    BS: 9
    WS: S

    Total: 29S

Coming from a rather difficult undergrad school where on average, ~75% of pre-meds get accepted somewhere each year with my GPA and MCAT score......not sure what to do......

The lowest score I got on my last 5 AAMC practices was a 37. The highest in that range was a 40. I don't remember my exact scores, but they probably averaged somewhere around a 38 or 39.

So 37 wasn't a huge shock (though I guess I could have done better. grrrrr VR) and the fact that it sits on the lower end of my practices is probably just due to nerves. Still, SOOOO EXCITING!

Given this, I'd agree that AAMC practices are good indications of how you'll score on the real thing. Hope this gives you a better idea. Good luck!

I am psyched! All of my AAMC practice tests were 31 and my Kaplan tests were 28-30. I knew that physical sciences number would be around 8, verbal reasoning was always an 11 or 12 in practice, but I NEVER got as high as a 13 in BS. That writing score is mediocre, but I'll take it. I'm not retaking!!! I'm celebratin' tonight!!!

that's what i got the first time. actually 9 10 10. i did the wrong thing and retook in august (2004) which delayed my application until like the end of october. and the worst part is that after wasting my entire summer i only got one point higher. i got a couple interviews but they were late and i ddint get in. obviously. here i am about to take it again. APPLY EARLY and you should be ok assuming that the rest of your application is fine. DO NOT RETAKE. just my 2 cents.

34R!!!!!!! (I told myself I'd be happy with 33-35, so yay!)

    10 VR
    11 PS
    13 BS

Pretty happy with my scores, since I was scoring between 30-32 on my practice tests (I was averaging around a 31, highest score was a 34)

Way surprised by bio, since i never scored above a 12 on practice tests (averaged 10 actually). Although I did feel pretty strongly about it after the test (even though everyone else was freaking out).

Also pleasantly surprised by writing (even though it doesn't matter) because I thought I really sucked on that (my second essay was horrrible!).

    No retake! Yes!!!

Well, I kicked ass on the part that matters least.

    PS 13
    VR 10
    BS 11

    Total: 34T

I beat my minimum of 33, but my practice tests were consistenly 35 :( so I'm disappointed that I didn't meet that.

I thought I totally bombed it so I was kinda happy and surprised....plus tx resident so for tx schools its not horrible....
    PS 11
    VR 10
    BS 8

29N....cant believe my writing sample was so low! And whats really wierd is that on all practice tests I scored 11-13 in bio and like 8 in PS everytime...That bio section was KILLER in my opinion and I am a bio major, work in a molecular genetics lab, and am a TA for the bio department.... Im retaking in July...

    April 2007 - 26Q

    BS 10

    August 2005 - 24O
    PS 7
    VR 9
    BS 8

It's gone up from my previous scores which is good! I'm happy with my PS and BS. PS always kills me, and the April 7 bio was insane! Buuuut I'm really disappointed in my verbal. I was scoring solid 9's and 10's on the online practice VR. I'm torn if I should re-take (i'm applying mostly D.O.). I'll give a few days thought.

Everyone's scores look awesome!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!

I was consistently scoring around a 30 on the last 3-4 practice tests before the real thing; actual score:

    VS: 8
    PS: 10
    BS: 9
    N

My goal was to get a 30+ with at least an 8 on the verbal... surprised by the writing too, I thought they were actually some of my best essays and I've never received a writing score that low before. I have done lots of shadowing and volunteering/working and have a 3.98 gpa.... Will this bring my application down a ton? Do I retake???

35R. I'm content with that, so I wont be retaking it. But I was hoping for around a 37 since my practice average on Kaplan was 36. But at least I know that I'll be going somewhere next fall.

Oh man... I'm going to have to retake somehow... but all the seats are filled in my state for May and June already and I didn't want to register early to waste $100 if I didn't have to. I would accept anything 34 or higher, but verbal really killed me here. Ugh, all this wait and no good news!

well, what im worried about is staying in CA. my top schools are UCLA, UCI, and USC. uber competitive. =/ My MCAT scores are right on average for UCI (even down to the subject breakdowns). But my GPA isnt so shiny. thats why im so worried. I was hoping to really rock the MCAT (36) so that it outshines my GPA.

I got a 38T, VR15 / PS11 / BS12 and I'm kinda going crazy about it. I made a 38 once out of something like 8 AAMC practice exams and had scored 28 -34 on the rest (all over the place, which was why I was worried) so I'm floored. But, the good kind of floored.

Everyone, keep that quote in perspective when reading these posts. I am thrilled with my 33. I mean its in the 87.3-90.5th percentile. My individual scores for both BS and VR are in the 95-98th percentile (see my post above for individual #'s). I am happy as pie about that.

We don't all have to score in the 99th percentile to get in to med school. Well, unless you're set on Ivy league, maybe...but all of us "regular" folks don't need that kind of score.

Sure, I would LOVE a 37+, people that can do that are awesome, but I'm realistic...and I'm content.

    CONGRATS ALL!!:hardy:

Whoop! 33 overall! That'll get me in somewhere in Texas! I was averaging 35's on my Kaplan full lengths, but after walking out feeling like I got it broken off in my anu* I'm totally cool with this score.

I hate VR too. It owned me. I totally was doing like 9-11 on practices. Then again, that was the same for my other PS/BS scores. Any advice from anyone?

    BS: 13
    PS: 13

    36R

I could really do with a better verbal score, but I realize that I am in absolutely no position to complain at this point. Hit my practice test average right on the money (although for some reason I always scored higher in VR than PS/BS in my practice tests - weird!)

Best of luck to all who are applying this coming cycle!

It might make them look more closely at the quality of your personal statement, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think right now you should mostly concern yourself with your 15 in the Physical Sciences, because that is amazing and wonderful for you. Congrats.

Well, I managed to get the last seat in Massachusetts just now after shelling out an extra $50 on top of the $210 b/c the mcat registration is all messed up. But I'll be taking it on May 31st, and I somehow have to make sure my score will be higher this time around :/ Does a good writing grade really make up for a poor VR score? (31S PS11/VR8/BS12) I feel terrible just seeing that my VR is in the 30-50th percentile. :scared:
