Hey,

as the may 15 deadline approaches and movement will occur in waitlist around june, i think it'd be cool if people could post the names of the "big people" at various schools. i.e. if u wanted to get to columbia, you'd have to be in contact w/ dr. frantz. are there similar figures at other schools? or, are they naturally just the people who signed ur waitlist letter? (which, i can't find some of them..hehee).

anyways, i'll start it off w/ columbia.

Mr. Thomas Slavin, M.S., Director of Admissions-if you get put on the TUSM waitlist you will be asked to let the adcom know you are interested by sending an e-mail to the admissions office, and I believe Mr. Slavin handles e-mails.

just an amendment......

Medical College of Wisconsin's director of admissions is not Dr. Ishta......

it's Michael Istwan

( i'm not sure if he's a PhD or not )

Yogi,

Last year the person to contact at Vanderbilt was Patricia Sagen, PhD - Director of Admissions. The admissions website only has her listed as "Pat Sagen." When I wrote her an email, I had a very difficult time addressing it, since I didn't know if she was man/woman, let alone doc/non-doc. I (stupidly) ended up adressing the email, "Dear Pat,..." She responded with an answer to my question, along with a full spelling of her name, with the degree afterwards.

thanks! yeah, some people just have unisex sounding names. i've encountered that on a few occasions. I usually end up addressing them by "Dear Director" or "Dear Adcom", etc.

I've been addressing my official Vanderbilt correspondence to Dr. J. Harold Helderman, the Chair of the Admissions Committee and my one question about the process in an e-mail to Pat Sagen.

Bump!

I know it's a 9 year thread but I feel that this can be useful 😀 for this upcoming application cycle! 😎

Half these people are retired, including the person who the thread was started about.

I'm a bit confused by the premise of this thread. Are we suggesting that an admissions big-wig would be receptive to random applicants inundating them requests?

Even more than that, I actively dislike this thread. I think this kind of discussion should be limited to the school specific threads, especially considering the fact that these names change and it probably isn't a good idea to call out these individuals in this kind of forum.
