hey all!! i am starting this thread because there seems to be five or six recent NUMS threads bumping about, many people seem to have had their status change recently, and NUMS's final adcom meeting is apparently this friday. i was accepted to NUMS last cycle and am totally stoked about the school. it's exciting to know who some of my classmates may be, so post away as the decisions roll in. good luck...i have my **fingers crossed** for all of you!!

Has anybody (who had their status page change this week) recieved anything yet? A friend of mine called to change her mailing address and they told her that the letter had already been sent on the 22nd. I find it odd that it would take this long to reach her though (no she has not recieved anything as of today)

I just called the admissions office. My status changed to "a decision has been made" last Friday and I was told that my decision was mailed on Monday. I interviewed 3/8. I'll let you guys know if I get anything today!!

I called monday and they told me that I won't recieve anything until next week. I'm sure everybody else's info is a lot more updated than mine is. Crossede fingers.

OK here is some food for thought...

If meals had his/her status change last friday (meals, correct me if I am wrong about this!), and the MAJORITY of us had our pages change this week, then maybe a waitlist has already been set up, and most of us are on it? Also, my friend was told that her letter was sent last friday, meals was told that his was sent on monday, and now Jalbrekt was told that he will not recieve anything until next week (i.e. they will send his correspondence today or tomorrow) - could these be 3 different types of decisions, or just slow work on the part of their secretary? I hate trying to sit here and analyze what they are doing up at NUMS, but it's hard not to after waiting for so long...

I talked to them on Tuesday and they told me a letter was sent out on friday but I still have not received the letter.

the reason they MIGHT have said that different people are getting it at different times is probably because of the location....Jalbrekt is in california and so am I, and they told me I would receive it next week as well..

you and Ksomething are both in Gainesville, so u will probably receive it sooner.....

I think most of the letters were mailed either friday or monday and the time discrepancy is really how much time the mail takes to get to u

THAT IS I HOPE...now u made me depressed....but there are pple whose status have not changed!

Just to clarify -- I am female. And everything about this process seems so random to me. I wouldn't read too much into the date that letters are sent. I've got my fingers crossed for everyone that will hear soon!

Ok, Now I called back today, and asked her when the letter would be sent to me. She got my AMCAS ID, and told me a letter was sent out to me on the 22nd. She also seemed happy when I hung up, so hopefully, that is a good sign.

I live in California and I was recently accepted to NUMS. My letter of acceptance was dated March 8, 2002, and I received it on March 11, 2002. I suppose it would have arrived earlier, but mail is not delivered on Sundays! The letter was mailed in a yellow envelope much like the supplemental application was. By the way, almost everyone I talked to on SDN who received a letter from NUMS received it within 2-3 days of when it was mailed. For those who lived in Illinois, they received a letter on March 9, 2002.

I hope this helps and gives you a timeframe of when to expect the arrival of a letter. Good luck to everyone! I hope you all become my classmates! You're a great bunch of people.

I'm really anxious about the results as well, so all I can do is sit and wonder.. and play golf... I don't want my future classmates (hopefully!) to think I'm some kind of party-pooper (Good luck, everyone!)

I just noted the above titled post "official March 29 thread." I thaught the date was march 15th when med schools had to officially offer as many acceptances as seats, but teh date had been moved back to march 29th. This leads me to believe that these are acceptances on their way, because we would recieve them right before the 29th (assuming they sent them out on the 22nd.) I guess we'll know soon enough.

I live in Chicago and the letter was sent out on the 22nd and I still have not received the letter why do you think it is taking so long?

I hear u girl..I'm anxious as well too........I guess time will tell...

you know they could have just written it on their website, and they probably know the contents of the letters as well....I just wish they didn't play such mind games....yeessh

I am the one k271 is talking about who called today and was told my letter was sent out on the 22nd. So what is taking so long???? This is why I am worried I felt confident about that my page had changed before the last meeting which correct me if I am wrong but I believe is tomorrow, but now that its been a week. It seems like everyone else in the last batch of acceptances received their letters within 2-3 days, which leads me to believe they were priority mailed. If anyone knows whether acceptances are priority mailed will you please post this info?? Sorry this is so pessimistic.

ARgh...you all raise good points...priority versus regular mail!!!!!

remind me not to STUDY with u guys in case we ever got in to northwestern before the exams.....what a bunch of hysterical people we as future medical students.... :D

I am so frustrated!! Anyone waiting for a letter today, don't get your hopes up. I have been sitting by the mailbox for 2 hours and it did not come. I don't even live too far from Chicago (in St. Louis). If anyone gets a letter please post!!! This just doesn't make sense the mail does not take this long, does it? Furthermore, when I called yesterday to change my address info, the admissions woman asked me if I wanted to have the letter mailed to both addresses. I am on spring break now in St.L. and I was changing my address from St.L to my school address. I am going back to school on Monday but she probably assumed I was on Sunday. So... does this mean we shouldnt be expecting them until Monday? I hope not.

I got a letter!!!! I got a letter!!!!!! Unfortunately, it was just a card from my girlfriend.

OK, my page changed days ago, and I just called the admissions office and they told me that a letter was sent to me on the 22nd. I'm in NY--it does NOT take a week to send a letter from chicago to New York. This is really strange. Has ANYONE gotten ANYTHING in terms of a decision from the March 22nd adcom meeting?

CJT

I'm in the same boat. Last Friday I was told a packet was going to be sent on Monday. Now it's Friday and I still haven't received it... and Boston's not too far from NY!

I am starting not to beleive anything these administrators say because there is no way mail in the city of chicago would take over a week. Damn in a week it could get to china.

My status page changed on 3/22 - a call to the office said a decision letter had been mailed last Monday....today I received an invite to the 2nd look weekend! That invite was postmarked on Thursday the 28th!...hoping the official letter will soon follow! good luck!

Hooray. Someone recieved mail. Where do you live??? Just wondering how long it will take to reach Cali. (hopefully, it is a good letter reaching Cali)

I guess the reason the letters are taking so long is just that they are so fat with acceptance information that postal workers can just carry one at a time. I'm sure that's it!

well folks, I got the rare post-interview rejection today in CA. Good luck y'all.

Hey, can't you hope in the car and just find out why it's taking so long?

intoxicated - when did you interview?

i'm in the midwest so hopefully you'll hear monday or tuesday....hang in there!

I got my NWU med school rejection letter late last week, and my roommate got his NWU law school rejection on Saturday... We attached our letters side-by-side on the refrigerator :) Good luck to all of you! - its a great program.

hmmm, looks like all the people whose "final decision has been made" have turned out to be rejections.....oh well, not a good sign...

which state are you located in? I was wondering how long it takes to get the rejection letters...oh well

Yesterday I also received a rejection letter and Northwestern was my top choice oh well at least I have been accepted into one school so far but I do not feel that good about the other schools who have me on there waitlists anyways I wish everybody at least gets into one school.

•••••I'm in the group whose page changed around the 26th or 27th. It doesn't look good for my chances there. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a rejection letter coming my way, but hopefully it will be good news. I've been going over my interview in my head ever since last Wednesday, and honestly, it could have gone either way. Getting in there would be going against the trend that I've been on lately, but I suppose you never know. My parents are out of town for Easter, and since the letter is going to my home address I won't know until late Tuesday or Wednesday when they get back. I've been going crazy ever since last week when I saw that applicants' statuses were changing. Another 2-3 days of waiting!

Jalbrekt and others, best of luck to you.

bump... hey, I made a bump!

i just wanted to post that when i interviewed on jan. 11th, the woman who told us about the admissions process said that upon completing the interview process, the committee accepts 1/3, waitlists 1/3 and rejects 1/3. so this is contrary to what many others have been posting about only 30 people being rejected in total.

dukegirlie

dukegirlie  •••••There seems to be some discrepancy about this, because we were told specifically that only about 30 get rejected... Dean Lapin was the one who oriented us, and I am pretty sure that it was she who said it...

I had dean Lapin, too, and I remember her saying 10% get rejected post interview. 50% in and 40% waitlisted. The numbers on USnews has about 52% of people interviewed offered acceptances, but that doesn't prove anything because people get off the waitlist. I think they just waited until now to send out the 60 rejections. Fingers still crossed.

hmmm...

Ok, I finally stopped hyperventalating. Dukeygirl had me scared there, but more people are reenforcing my memory than hers. Whew. Havn't checked mail yet today.

Anyone checked their mail yet today? :p

Just got the decision has been made on the status check website. I interviewed 2/19, and have been faithfully checking the site the last week and a half. I'm crossing my fingers...

My status just changed to "decision has been made" as well. Interviewed 1/15. Will definitely go if accepted. Good luck to everyone!

Rejection letter in the mail today (4/1). A little disappointed, but on the other hand, that just makes my decision to go to UCSD much easier, b/c seriously, those were my top 2 choices!! A couple more waitlists and one more school to hear from, but I think my mind is pretty much set: SoCalian all my life, baby!!

Since early December I have been waiting, and finally a decision has been made. Anybody beat that. 4.5 months. Good luck to all!

I just got the acceptance in the mail today. I am so excited!!! My status changed on Friday and the postmark date was March 29. I interviewed in Late November. :) :)

im sorry if my post about the number of rejects scared anyone! i totally believe that she must have given us the wrong info on my interview day.

dukegirlie

Ouch. Just got my rejection letter today. I'm in shock. I really thaught I had gotton in. This was what I thaught was my best interview. This one really hurts.
