tinkerbelle said:There is a gym in the school/hospital. It costs like $50/semester. But beware, it is probably the crappiest gym I've ever seen. The undergrad campus has a really nice gym, so you could walk over there to work out. I think the buffer guys usually do that. Vin works out a lot, so he can give you a better idea of the equipment. I actually just bought an elliptical so I can workout at home. I find that I work out more often with equipment in my room.
In defense of the gym at the hospital, it's not terrible. It has its benefits. For instance, it's always open. So if you're on a rotation, and can't make it to the undergrad gym during their normal hours, you can go to the hospital gym.
However, tinkerbelle is correct that the undergrad gym is much nicer. They have indoor everything. Basketball, soccer, track, swimming, tennis, squash, raquetball, volleyball, badminton, can't think of other sports. And the weight room is pretty awesome. There are at least 2 of every machine, plenty of free weights. Decent aerobic machines. But of course there's a lot of competition for all those machines, as the entire undergrad population uses that gym.
One other nice thing about the hospital gym is that they have sports leagues, like indoor soccer. If you aren't a member, you have to pay extra to be allowed to have swipe priveledges. And on Sunday nights, there's a regular game of pick-up basketball. In the past, it has been organized as an inter-class competition, but for the past 2 years, that hasn't happened for some reason. Maybe next year.
