***Official University of Louisville Class 2015 Acceptance Thread***

yea, my wife has been looking at places and boy they are cheap compared to Florida.

I too have been looking for places. It's good to see there are some affordable apartments since I live in a college town and think the rent here is pretty cheap ($495/mo) and when looking in Louisville I don't see anything outrageous like if it were NYC/Chicago/Boston.

Anyone heard from current/previous students some good places to live? I've heard the Terraces at Forest Springs are popular, but a little more expensive and kind of further away than I wanted, however, they look really nice!

If you are single a couple of people live at Phoenix place its close to the school and pretty inexpensive. The Terraces are way nice but they will raise the rent on you after a year. Depending on who you talk to when you call them they may or may not disclose this to you. Indian Springs is also nice or maple brook or Park Laureate or Silver springs.

I really love the options you have to where you can live. My interviewer lived 30-40 minutes from the school on 2 acres of land with horses but there are also a lot of city apartments closer to the school. I would prefer the country though.:D

Interviewed September 17th, I'll be paying my deposit in the next few days and attending Louisville! I'm in-state.

Got into Louisville as well! My wife and I are super excited!

I interviewed Nov 22. I'm the one that was sitting in the front right side...the one whose wife is pregnant. Well, since my interview we found out we're not having just one kid, were having twins! I about fainted (we didn't really want 4 kids yet). And to make it more complicated, the due date is June 18th...a whopping two weeks from July 1st. And to make it even more complicated, my wife usually ends up on bed rest about halfway through the pregnancy. Hmm....there goes whatever semblance of a life I had.

Needless to say, we're pretty nervous.

Wow:eek: First off congrats on getting in and on the twins:D:D! But you will for sure find a way to make it all work

I've got to wait for my transcripts after the end of this semester! I will probably send mine out by Christmas, hopefully it gets there on time! Our finals don't end until next Saturday (12/18) with grades not released until the Wednesday after that (12/22). I'm in Indiana though so hopefully it'll get there quick!

Congrats guys, you all deserve it! Louisville is a great school and I can only say that I am very happy to be here. I am currently a junior in ULSD, feel free to ask me any questions.

Congrats again.

Hey, I'm wondering if you can help? I got accepted on Dec. 1 but I still haven't received mail. Also, do you know how much the deposit is?

Thanks

I have yet to receive the letter in the mail either, who knows where it is?????

just received my letter today in the mail

The deposit is $1,000 for out of state.

You need to call school if you don't get it by Wed.

Congrats everyone :woot: We will meet in july!

I was wondering how the housing market is in Louisville.

Housing in Louisville is so cheap it would be nice to have our monthly payment go to equity instead of to a landlords bank account; but is 4 years even enough time for the house to appreciate? Plus how hard would it be to sell after 4 years?

I know a few current students that have bought houses but it still doesn't give me enough confidence that it would be worth it.

what do you all think?

I just got it! Finally...

I'd be interested to know about the housing market. I suppose it'd be a better deal if you thought you'd stay there after 4 years. If you find anything out let us know! Can't wait to meet everyone in July!

hey guys.
do we have to pay $150 for that criminal background check?
I don't think we have to.

I have the same question. I received an email from AADSAS that one or more of my schools required a background check but it did not list the schools. I checked with the list and it looks like Louisville is not a participating school for the AADSAS background check. I am going to send an email to make sure. Hate to lose my spot over 150 bucks.

Im really leaning towards attending UL but that OS tuition is just insane to me:scared: I don't know what to do sigh.

My friend got an email saying that it was a mistake they sent it to us and not to proceed with paying for it. I have already paid but didn't get that email- I hope I do later today or that the charge is simply dropped from my "pending charges" on my bank card.

Kwake,
Have you thought about the military or Health Service Corps? I am thinking of those to help offset the cost of OOS tuition. I loved Louisville and am out of state, but haven't had my in-state interview yet, but will more than likely choose Louisville- I just have to break the news to my parents lol.

I also received an email saying we do not have to participate.

OMG, tell your wife I said hello. Nov. 22nd interview group is taking over this thread, haha. I hope you accept, I'm going to as soon as I get the papers in the mail. I am so excited and I am even more excited to see people from our group accept b/c I thought everyone was awesome. Accept Accept and listen to your wife. Remember " a happy wife is a happy life", still training my husband on that concept, lol.

Hey I put down a deposit at MWU-AZ, Kristine and I drove to Arizona last weekend and felt that it was right for us. We actually put our deposit to Louisville in the mail but then we didn't feel right about it. Our interview group was awesome, best of luck to you all!

Just sent my deposit I loved Louisville, I have an interview at UOP in Feb. If I get accepted there I will need some help from you guys on how to make an informed decision.

Withdrew yesterda, hope someone deserving gets the spot soon. Congrats UL students

Where are you headed off to next fall, just curious?

For those who have sent in the deposit have you received confirmation yet? One predent mentioned that USPS told him/her that the address on the envelope (the one they sent in the acceptance letter) does not exist. I really want to know if this is the case, or maybe the carrier was not familiar with the area??????

that you aren't supposed to give out information on yourself on here, but I want to know who I'm going to be hanging around with for four years, so if you got accepted too, talk on facebook! :)

I am a current dental student, class of 2014. We ended up buying because it is cheaper than what we would be paying for rent and it's our own place. My wife loved it because we were able to choose our own cabinets, flooring, paint color, countertops, etc. all brand new.

You will pay lower monthly payments if you buy and you will get a much better place. There is some risk with that but there is a chance you can come out of it on top as well. To me, it is worth the risk, we are confident that we will not spend more money buying than what we would have spent on rent for four years.

We looked at a lot of places here in Louisville and I think if you buy a nice place and take care of it, it will be an easy sell. Most places we looked at were a little beat up. Our place has already appreciated in the six months we have been here (only a $5K but not bad for six months).

Here is a link to our condos: http://www.semonin.com/PropertyDeta...er=ascending&9375=1&AgoraItems=10&AgoraPage=1
if you want any help or have any other questions let me know, the school doesn't help out too much in this area.

Congrats to everyone that got in! My wife and I are excited to meet all of you during orientation, and hopefully before. We currently live in Louisville, and don't love the place where we're at, so my wife has been on an exhaustive search for a new place. We seriously thought about buying a house, but we have a number of friends that are going to be selling their houses this summer for exactly what they paid for them 4 years ago. The housing market here does not appreciate like the rest of the country, but it also doesn't have a high risk of depreciation, so you likely won't lose money. So, we decided to go with an apartment. I will apologize beforehand for the extremely long post, but hopefully this info that my wife has compiled will help some of you as you decide where to live.

.20 minutes away from the SCHOOL (Hwy 71, Crestwood area):.
. .
.1)Terraces- 1,2 and 3 Bedrooms Apartments..
.Just off the 71 freeway. Near Costco, and Summit Shopping center..
.One block from the Grocery Store. New apartments with swimming pool and golfing green..

Last year, if dental students didn't sign before February, they lost out on the deal, but I talked with the lady and she said that if you mention my name (Brynn) and the fact that you will be attending dental school, you can receive the $200/month discount up until school starts. Rent has traditionally increased by $10 each year. Rent includes water, sewage, and trash..
. .
.2) The Paddock-.

.Over all, the Terraces will give us a deal, and keep the price the same (with a possible $10.00 increase a year) for the 4 years, (Other places, like Camden Meadows like to raise theirs $100.00 a year).
.The Terraces is definitely the best bang for your buck. That’s probably why a ton of dental students already live there. .

I am a little confused about the $200 deduction. Is the $737 price going to be the price for the entire 4 years, if there is no rent fee increase, or will it go up to $937 when school starts? Could you please be a little more clearer on that?

thanks

The $200 discount would apply for all 4 years. They love dental students out there, because they tend to be great tenants who always pay on time and refer a lot of people. So, if you're paying $737, in year 4 you may be paying $767. Also, something that I didn't mention is that the bottom floor apartments have 9 foot ceilings without a fireplace and are the prices listed. The upstairs apartments have 8 foot ceilings which vault to 9 feet in the living room, and a fireplace and are $10 cheaper than the prices that I listed. The bottom floor seems a lot more open with the high ceilings and no fireplace, but you do pay $10 more.

Just curious, is there still a facebook group for this?

A friend of mine just called admissions and today was Louisville's last interview day, so if you haven't heard anything from them... thought I'd update everyone!

Did they say when they will be notifying waitlisted people? I sure hope they let me know soon, I cant wait any longer!

I guess if I have to wait, I can. JUST DONT WANT TO.

I called a couple weeks ago and they told me that the committee would meet sometime after the last interview day (apparently yesterday) and they would be giving out acceptances during the last week of Jan or first week of Feb.:xf:

Hey RLOW04-
You're 27 aren't you? The genius who got the 27 on the DAT? I was there on Nov. 22 also. I'm from Montana, the guy with 3 kids. Got wait listed for Louisville partly b/c I won't have my Bach degree this year. Just curious, what did you use to study for the DAT?

HandsomeSlob, how's it going! I'm the guy that sat next to you on the plane. (BJ) Hope things are well...

Have you heard for sure that it's a bachelor degree thing? I've heard rumors that Louisville is going to be letting people know this week about whether or not they get in. Do you think you still have a chance...even without a degree? Have you heard from anyone else yet?

I can confirm that. I was told the same thing. Good luck everyone!! Sorry I forgot to mention the wait list situation in my last post.

I don't want to put out any wrong/misleading information, so if anyone finds this to be not true, please feel free to let me know.

That being said, we have access to blackboard now and I checked our site and there is a link called "Roster" (under tools if you're accepted and checking) and there you can list all the members on the roster. Right now (3:16 EST on 1/31/11) there are 119 members. I DO know, however, that I think 5 or so of these are faculty (Dr. Babbage, Robin, Dianne, etc). I just wanted to give you guys waiting a heads up that there are probably 6-7 spots OPEN plus I know a few people on the roster that are going elsewhere so it may not be updated recently. I wish you all luck and hope to meet you this Summer!

Does anyone know what the difference between "waitlisted" and the "next to be contacted list" means for Louisville? Is one better than the other or are they the same?

Does anyone know what the difference between "waitlisted" and the "next to be contacted list" means for Louisville? Is one better than the other or are they the same?

Pretty sure waitlisted and the NTBC list is this same thing. I am on the NTBC list and my AADSAS says waitlisted.

Everyone of the NTBC list should have gotten an email last week asking if we would like to stay on this list. We were suppose to respond with a "yes" or "no" by February 10th (tomorrow). So I'm guessing this means they will be giving out their seconds round of acceptances pretty soon.

Has there been any acceptances since December 1st? I know not everyone has a pre-dent account but according to the few that are on there, there doesn't appear to be an post-december 1 acceptance.

I'm also on the NTBC list and every day i wake up and think "oh please oh please oh PLEASE let today be the day they call and say they want me!":xf:

Has anyone heard anything yet this week.. I called last week and the lady I talked to said she would expect them to do their next round in the next week and if not in the next two weeks
